Intruders
Though no one can see him, Hollow Face lurks in the corners, desperately desiring love but only knowing how to spread fear and hate. He creeps into the life of John Farrow after Farrow’s beloved 13-year-old daughter Mia is assaulted in their home. The line between the real and the imaginary blurs as fissures start to open within the family unit. It seems that no security measure can keep Hollow Face out.

Excellent but underrated film
Did you people see the same film I saw?
Absolutely the worst movie.
It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.
This movie was a real treat to finally find something on Netflix to watch worth the $7.95 I pay each month. If I were you, I would stay away from long reviews and long descriptions and watch this fresh for yourself. Figure it out for yourself because any hints will spoil the movie and take away from its real presentation - it unfolds for you - that is the point. If you like psychology, medical, reasons people do what they do, then it is all there. Plus, Clive Owen is a pleasure to watch. He is an excellent actor and is handsome, which is more than you get from most movies they are throwing together with unknown actors these days. Hunker down for the evening and enjoy. If you still have questions, then you can read all the spoilers.
This film is a good scary thriller. Clive Owen is the main character and gives a convincing performance of a dad who is trying to catch "hollow face" the man who appears in his daughters bedroom at night. The film also flips back to a similar story in Spain, where hollow face comes to a little boys room at night. There aren't lots of effects or gore in this film. It's just a simple story of a creepy man who visits children at night. The two halves of the story come together nicely, as hollow face presence seems to intensify - with the police and social work involved the pressure is on the dad to prove hollow face does exist.. I would recommend this movie and it was a good scary watch.
I read so much criticism of this film that I didn't watch it for at least a year. Like most people I sometimes allow too much weight to the opinions of others, no matter how hard I might resist. Finally, I did watch it and I was quite impressed. I suppose I could say 'don't trust the reviews of others' and then expect you to trust me and be instantly conflicted! Instead, let me say that the performances are strong, the direction is crisp, the camera work is way above par, the story advances nicely and only at the end, when the music overpowers the narration that ties a bow on the whole thing, does the editing stumble. But, please forgive that stumbling as I do now when I rate this one a 7 and encourage you to let it play out and get to that end. This isn't a horror film as we understand that genre to be in current terms. It is a suspense film, however. And, it has marvelous supernatural elements that dance across any size screen to hold one's attention. All the major players are well-cast and do fine jobs. In particular, another strong movie for Clive. clearly his best since The International. And, special notice for Ms. Purnell. Not to be too excessive, but at times I saw in her a very young Genevieve Bujold in the way the camera loved her. What else can I say? Don't trust others, like I did? How about this: trust me, this is a movie worth your time.
This one tries to be somewhat complex as it turns up the Think Volume, and that is hardly a prerequisite in the Genre. Going for an interwoven Storyline of two different but connecting events, this is a challenging Movie and maybe just a little too heavy for its own good.It is creepy and manages to involve through some good Cinematography and fine Performances. But confusion may set in at times and it detracts from some of the scariness and causes some questions and unnecessary interpersonal quibbling about events. The ending is an all or nothing affair that will have some saying, oh Cool, and others scratching their heads with a, oh come on, reaction. It is clever but rather annoying and not very well handled Cinematically. It is a wrap that is satisfying enough but ultimately tries to fit a lot of information into little Screen Time and fails somewhat in its denouement.Worth a view for its ambition and some tense moments and suspenseful Scenes. Just a bit more substance than necessary, if that's possible, because it becomes more murk than mystery.
