Zookeeper
Kindhearted Griffin Keyes is one of the best-loved caretakers at the Franklin Park Zoo, but he's more comfortable with the animals than with females of his own species as proven by his failed marriage proposal to the self-absorbed Stephanie several years ago. The animals have listened to Griffin pine over her for years and, after she reappears in his life, they decide to help Griffin rekindle the relationship and become the alpha male she wants him to be. They inadvertently reveal their secret ability to talk and, after Griffin's initial shock, teach him the rules of courtship, animal-style. Surprisingly, the animals' advice really works and Griffin is about to get everything he's ever dreamed of--or is he?

Absolutely brilliant
Clever, believable, and super fun to watch. It totally has replay value.
I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.
Story: It's very simple but honestly that is fine.
A group of zoo animals decide to break their code of silence in order to help their lovable zoo keeper find love -- without opting to leave his current job for something more illustrious. To be honest i've always enjoyed Kevin James movies and this one is no exception, there's enough laughs and some great mix of adventure and drama within this film and having some well known actors like Stallone and Nolte voicing some of the animals makes the movie even better. It's not a film for everyone but some viewers will like it. (8.5/10)
Zookeeper (2011): Dir: Frank Coraci / Cast: Kevin James, Rosario Dawson, Leslie Bibb, Donnie Wahlberg, Ken Jeong: The theme is suppose to represent our inner being or being true to oneself. This film begins with promise as Kevin James proposes to his girlfriend only to get dumped because she isn't satisfied that he is a zookeeper. He begins to have second thoughts about his career choice until the animals begin talking to him. This at first freaks him out, then he decides to take their advice regarding relationships. James has fun with the material as he struggles to adapt to his new speaking companions. He also struggles in dealing with his ex and new egotistical boyfriend. We know many things that he will do. He will come to his senses and go with the female co-worker. He will remain at the zoo, and he will take the depressed gorilla out on the town. Rosario Dawson was splendid in films such as Clerks 2 and Deathproof, but here her role is shamelessly by the numbers and predictable. Leslie Bibb plays the idiot ex whom James is hung up on. She attempts to change him into her ideal mate but we already know the answer to this. Donnie Wahlberg also makes a wasted appearance as an abusive zookeeper. Ken Jeong makes an appearances working at the reptile house. Like a snake, he should hope that he can shed this career move. Not director Frank Coraci's worst film, which includes such crap as Around the World in 80 Days and Click. The special effects are amusing as numerous animals don voices and communicate, but the film itself is about as exciting as shovelling horse sh*t. Score: 3 ½ / 10
"The Zookeeper" is hardly anything else than copy of "Dr.Dollittle". The plot is unimaginative. The animals aren't either interesting or cute. The story is predictable and the jokes are lame. The acting isn't anything special. Kevin James has always been a poor man's John Candy, at least for me. There is impressive supporting voice cast here : Sylvester Stallone , Nick Nolte , Cher , Adam Sandler , Judd Apatow and Jon Favreau . They did OK , but that's it.The only reason I saw this lame comedy was because Sylvester Stallone in it. I'm on a mission to watch every movie he made (with the exception of the infamous porn movie "Party at Kitty and Stud"). I'm always wondering why someone with an obvious sense of humor like Sly keeps appearing in bad comedies like this one. I guess I will never know. I give it 1/10.
I found it difficult to believe some of the negative reviews for this movie. I didn't know really what to expect going in, other than what the movie was about, that it was a comedy that featured talking animals. I love animals and so I thought it might be a good pick. I was not wrong, I'm happy to say. What a great movie! I found it very endearing, as well as funny and highly entertaining. I found myself laughing out loud many times throughout the movie. The animals were hilarious and Nick Nolte as the voice of Bernie the Gorilla, Cher as the female lioness, and Sylvester Stallone the Lion, did stellar jobs in their roles, not to mention the other actors who did the voices for the all the rest of the animals, like the Crow, the Monkey (Adam Sandler) the Giraffe and the Elephant.I liked the light romantic aspect of the movie, and I won't tell you the end result of that part as it would be spoiling it, but the whole scene from the time Griffin had the bicycle race with his nemesis Gale and then finally at the wedding reception I found absolutely hilarious. There were a few touching moments too, between Bernie the gorilla and Griffin, as well hilarious ones, like when Bernie decides to drive and while he slips in behind the wheel he says to Griffin, "Don't worry, I got this!" Griffin says, "Okay," and gets in the passenger side. Bernie takes off and goes straight across the road and immediately smashes into a parked car. This movie was SOOO funny. The dialog was great too, not only from the human stars but especially some of the things the animals said. All in all I highly recommend this to people that like to laugh and who love animal movies that are family oriented.
