The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.

I am glad I gave this movie a chance after all the bad reviews. I am in my 40's, and saw this movie visiting my parents because my stepmom wanted to watch it. I really enjoyed it! No, it is not Shakespeare or Tolstoy- it is a kids movie by Disney. There are things I don't believe should have been in the movie because they couldn't be treated as seriously as they deserve given the target audience, but there are some good life lessons. And yes, it is ridiculous how some people pamper their pets when there is so much want in the world, but Disney did not come up with this lifestyle. By the way, my dad dislikes movies aimed at this age, and he really enjoyed this one.

From Bambi's mother getting killed by hunters, to using fur as a fashion statement and dognapping dalmatian puppies in order to make a coat, to the 'pound' scene in Lady and the Tramp, to the 'circle of life' in The Lion King, to the more recently depicted disabled marine animals in Finding Dory...adults should give credit where it's due. After all, chances are, parents aren't going to introduce such dreadful topics to their children.True: Depending on the age of the viewer, much of the more meaningful, macabre content of this movie could go unnoticed. But for those old enough to grasp the depravity of dog fighting, the greed behind stealing Chloe's diamond collar and then - grabbing HER a second time for ransom, and the plight of homeless dogs, I think Disney is a master at exposing such atrocities while avoiding graphic details that would understandably frighten its youngest audience.Being involved with animal rescue for 30 years, I also appreciated their comment at the end, something like: While everyone at Disney and our producers would like every homeless dog to have a loving home, please do your research before making a commitment. The only reason I gave it 9 stars (rather than 10) was because they portrayed El Diablo - a doberman pinscher - as being mean-spirited and vicious, instead of dutiful and repentant. For one thing: this breed has already been subjected to criticism, condemnation, exploitation and abuse back in the seventies. For another: I am against the one dimensional characterization of ANY specific breed - something that could easily influence the general public/less knowledgeable individual. Absolutely any breed/type of dog can be made to be aggressive -- not just the falsely accused "bully breeds."

I honestly was not expecting much of anything from Beverly Hills Chihuahua (2006). I was actually expecting to be bored out of my mind. I wasn't completely wrong, but I certainly wasn't right either. This family friendly film does get some laughs, and it does have amusing humor that is very age appropriate. Jamie Lee Curtis was perfectly cast for her role as Aunt Viv, loved her in the movie. Also, Drew Barrymore was awesome as the voice of Chloe! I'm a big Barrymore fan! George Lopez was alright as the voice of Papi I suppose, honestly he wouldn't have been my first choice though. His voice was kinda annoying to be honest. The movie was pretty entertaining overall, humorous at times, and it had some adventure in other parts. There was some lagging in the middle of the film, it stalled a little bit and lost momentum. But luckily it picked backed up towards the end. This movie had delightful well written characters that I enjoyed seeing too. So overall this is a pretty good but not great family friendly film. 6/10.

I used to love Disney movies, simply because they made you laugh and cry, all while holding the title of a family movie. But now, most Disney movies are being defined by fart jokes and break-dancing animals. Seriously? Okay, the first fart joke may have been funny, but using it in every movie gets bland. And why in all new Disney movies do they have some kind of animal with a weird quirk about it that somehow ends up break-dancing at the end? (College Road Trip, Bedtime Stories, and now this) Disney is able to redeem itself with Pixar movies and movies like The Princess and the Frog, but it won't last. Why am I making a big deal about this? Because many people out there are saying that we should just leave it alone because it's a kids movie. Bull crap. The Lion King was a kids movie and it won over audiences across the world! Up was nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars! And all this was achieved without fart jokes and break-dancing animals! Therefore, being a kid's movie does not exonerate it from sucking royally! And another thing, if The Lion King and Up did not use those things I have mentioned before and accomplished a spot on our movie shelves and in our hearts, shouldn't that say to Disney "Hey! Maybe if we make more movies like that, without farts and lame jokes, we'll get more audiences!"? I don't know, but I think it's sad that kids are now relying on bad humor to entertain them instead of good, old-fashioned, sturdy plot-lines. But why does this movie suck? Lame jokes, potty humor, break-dancing animals, bad plots, and horrible acting. I never thought it was possible to overact when all you're doing is a voice-over job, but this movie showed me up. The moral of this story is skip this movie. Nothing about this movie is good, even though it has an all-star cast. Like I said before, being a kids movie doesn't exonerate it from the crap category. 2 out of 10, and the only reason I'm not giving this a zero is because I still have faith in Disney (plus, IMDb doesn't have 0/10 on it's scale).
