Purely Joyful Movie!
Nice effects though.
Unshakable, witty and deeply felt, the film will be paying emotional dividends for a long, long time.
Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.
Convinced that a CCN cameraman is her true love, an eccentric crossword puzzler trails him as he travels all over the country, hoping to convince him that they belong together. All About Steve stars a bunch of talented actors such as Sandra Bullock and Bradley Cooper and even they can't save this film from sudden death, The jokes were childish and stupid, the acting from Sandra was just as bad as it was in Speed II and as for the liners that the actors have to deliver? Horrible absolutely horrible and the story was even worse. This is a film that won razzies and makes absolute sense of why it won. Fans of both actors should skip it. (0/10)
I'm not sure of the templates of repeated form each person is comparing this film to give such poor commentary, but in my opinion if ya sit back and allow the film to just be what it is and tell it's odd story, you might enjoy it. The film shows characters we might have all met and dismissed as little odd, and if there's a slight intensity to stereotype, this is seen almost all male and female counterparts, in fact ken in this film is perhaps the only character that comes from a stable viewpoint, he even feels a little odd by contrast in the end. To me this film shows an intelligent look at different people, on the anxious to avoidant scale of what ideas of love and attraction mean to them, with almost all the main characters acting obsessive in other parts of their lives, as reflective of modern times, with a little comedic timing thrown in. No one character is completely mental, each just bumping into the other creates the story, rather than the main character's lunacy, which to my mind was just her trying to take a leap of faith, in belief in love in a cynical world, to which she is pushed as much pulled herself. If you can't see a little of yourself in this film to laugh at, I'd be surprised.. It's not a traditional rom com.
All About Steve (2009): Dir: Phil Traill / Cast: Sandra Bullock, Bradley Cooper, Thomas Hayden Church, Ken Jeong, DJ Qualls: Dreadfully annoying comedy about obsession as crossword puzzle creator Mary Horowitz treks across country in pursuit of a news cameraman whom her parents set her up with. He believes he is being stalked but his newsman keeps her coming with information on future stops. Directed by Phil Traill who doesn't seem to realize how disturbing this miserable content really is. Humor backfires at every attempt with mediocre special effects including an unbelievable hurricane. Sandra Bullock is embarrassing as talkative Mary. She practically rapes Cooper in his van upon meeting him but her constant pursuits make her far from likable. Bradley Cooper is stale as Steve and his little "Mary, be yourself" statement in the conclusion is pathetically phony. Thomas Haden Church is the one funny performance as a newsman who is constantly screwing up yet also baiting Mary. Ken Jeong who plays their producer had potential but is subdued to standard writing. DJ Qualls is along for the ride and is deemed useless. Had the film been about he and Church as oppose to Bullock's squawking and Cooper's wailing, then perhaps this film might have stood a chance at being funny. Ditsy comedy that is all about one of Bullock's worst performances. Score: 1 ½ / 10
A lot of people hated on this movie, and i can understand why, it's by no means fantastic or award winning, but it can be pretty funny and entertaining, or at least I thought it was. Sandra Bullock pulls off a good performance, despite her winning the Razzie for worst actress of the year. I actually thought that Bradley Cooper was annoying in this movie, i thought he acted like a jerk the entire time! This movie is not that great, but if your just looking for some pure innocent fun, and not a deep heavy Oscar winning movie, then it might be worth looking into. The dialouge is not the best, but mildly amusing at the same time. And I really loved all of the characters except for Bradley Cooper, hated his character!
