You won't be disappointed!
Very very predictable, including the post credit scene !!!
It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.
Worth seeing just to witness how winsome it is.
Gerry (Ben Mendelsohn) is a real estate agent who likes to gamble. He is down on his luck until he meets Curtis (Ryan Reynolds) at a poker table. Curtis is also a gambler, but he just likes to have fun and has no concerns or obligations. Curtis and Gerry decide to travel down the Mississippi River and hit all the gambling spots along the way.On the trip we get to know our characters a bit more, but there wasn't much to see. They have their ups and downs, but the film didn't go anywhere and I was wondering what was the whole point. Personally I've would have made it a little darker. Not bad, but this will not a film that will be remembered.Guide. F-bombs. No sex. Ryan butt nudity.
During the film Gary's wound moves from his left side to his right and back again
Down on his luck and facing financial hardship, Gerry teams up with younger charismatic poker player, Curtis, in an attempt to change his luck. The two set off on a road trip through the South with visions of winning back what's been lost. Mississippi Grind is a very different film for both Ben Mendelsohn and Ryan Reynolds and although they do try their best and they do have a nice chemistry together as the two leads the film is long and mostly a bland road trip about this 2 people that want to win some money threw poker and they basically test their luck each time they play. The acting is fine but the script and mostly the direction that the movie takes is what basically kills it and honestly it's not a recommend although if you're sick of the big Hollywood Blockbusters? You might enjoy it although both actors have starred in much better films in general. (5/10)
Ben Mendelsohn & Ryan Reynolds in a sleazy gambling movie. Chasing the win that will solve everything. Not glitzy Vegas but drab gambling starting in Iowa & then down the Miss. River. Sometimes in lesser casinos, gambling riverboats and private poker games and once in a while at a track. Ben M. does the heavy lifting acting. All rumpled & down on his luck. Not violent & demented like the Bloodline brother but similar look & bad luck. But R.R. does a damn good job too. Sienna Miller is listed on posters etc b/c she is popular but she's barely in it. These people all have teeth that are too nice for the characters they are playing. I don't think these people are making it in for a 6 month cleaning all that often.
