The Worst Film Ever
Good films always raise compelling questions, whether the format is fiction or documentary fact.
It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.
The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
The first half is nice and watchable, but the second part of the movie was a disappointment for me. In that part many things are happening very fast and in chaos, and it just gets stupid. On top of that it is a very slow movie, predictable, and not very special in any way.
First of, this type of film isn't for everyone. It's slow and there's nothing happening. It's not even horror. Personally I love watching this type. I never find it boring. I love how it just shows you a lot of scenery. It's artful~~ But anyway...I forgot what I got from the trailer but I wasn't expecting any jumpscares or horror to show up so I guess that lowers expectations from a horror lover. The movie felt like a mix of Jane Eyre and The Skeleton Key. The feel is absolutely Jane Eyre. We get the newcomer to take care of the child. Complete with the dark gloomy setting and the falling in love-ish with the master of the house and of course the wife stuck to the side. Then mix it with The Skeleton Key where SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER the "woman/spirit" takes over the newcomer. Tada! We have Voice from the Stone. X)
I guess i'm the stupid one for picking it, but my cable service kept pushing this film up the list of Horror titles available on demand and I eventually caved and tried it. It's not a horror movie, but rather a drama with a bit of romance. except on top of that it flirts with some horror ideas and even all but confirms at least one ghost. The ending as well seemed unsure of itself in terms of genre, resulting in a flat-out confusing ending this isn't at all my type of movie, but what tends to really aggravate me is when a movie doesn't seem to know what genre it wants to be, and ends up being not fully committed to any genre in particular. it's almost never worked out for a film
Set in 1950s Tuscany this is an insipid Gothic drama. Verena (Emilia Clarke) is a timid governess hired by sculptor Klaus (Marton Csokas) to deal with his son Jakob who has not spoken since his mother Malvina (Caterina Munro) died some months earlier.Verena's tries to get through to Jakob but Verena is convinced that Malvina's spirit somehow lives on and is trying to get through to Jakob though the walls of the castle.Klaus comes across as a bit of brute, emotionally damaged himself who seduces Verena who is willing to pose for the sculptor in the nude. The film is atmospheric but due to pacing problems rather inert.
