Good start, but then it gets ruined
The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.
A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.
A clunky actioner with a handful of cool moments.
Giving 7 star just because Tom.. this movie is kind creepy
This film tells the story of two sons who go on a winter fishing holiday with their biological father that they hardly know. As their holiday progresses, the two sons are in increasing danger from the elements and from the people they are with.Despite having an eventful story, I struggle to find the story engaging. It is nice to see a very young Tom Holland, but there is little else to captivate me. Events that normally induce thrill and fear do not induce such emotions in this film. Maybe the story telling needs a little more working on.
This is one of the best detective/murder mystery series I've ever seen I binged almost all four seasons at once. I think I've fallen in love with Joel Kinnamen. All the acting is terrific. The characters are very well developed and the story lines are tense and binge worthy. The gloomy background of Seattle is a perfect setting for this drama.
A recently fired ne'er do well loser of a Dad has his two teenage sons dropped off at his place by his ex and her new husband who are departing on a cruise. The older boy is a sullen, whiny klutz, and the younger one is a scatterbrained brat (in other words, typical teenagers). None of them being very bright, the Dad decides to teach his kids how to shoot a rifle, and they drive up to a remote woods way out in the boondocks, even though a blizzard is coming on. The kids slowly drive their father insane (actually, he surely had some serious mental problems to begin with), a succession of calamities occur, the Dad has a psychotic break, and horror ensues.Actually, not too bad a movie. It slowly draws you in, and you begin to understand the characters, who are fumblingly trying to connect with each other, and form a bond. The father-son & brotherly relationships are awkward but sincere. The ending comes quite suddenly and unexpectedly, and it isn't very pretty. The problems aren't resolved and there are a lot of loose ends, just as there always are in life. We all just have to keep on, and do the best we can.
