Very well executed
Terrible acting, screenplay and direction.
Powerful
This is an astonishing documentary that will wring your heart while it bends your mind
We get blood, boobs, gore, comedy, guys chasing sheep, kids killing cats and super hottie cousins "boning" each other! The comedy is actually funny the gore is actually well gory! The T&A is top notch (its Christa Campbell guys!) and the acting was excellent. Not only do we get a damn good horror film but we get a DVD that actually puts most "Special Editions" to shame! This release is packed with extras! I would like to point out to readers though that no matter how hard a DVD company tries to convince you subtitles and closed captions are not bonus features.I'd like to point out a few facts as well for starters; Eli Roth is back to reprise his role from Cabin Fever as wonky drifter Justin (Eli Roth) and his good buddy Dr. Mambo (the dog) is back as well! Eagle eyed viewers may also spot Tim Sullivan hammering on a coffin and Scott Spiegel (Evil Dead 1 & 2, The Dead Next Door) as one of the hillbilly banjo singers that constantly wander about the movie! So, for those of you looking for a damn good film, run, don't walk, to your nearest Best Buy and purchase 2001 Maniacs. Don't hesitate!
Three college guys decide to drive to Daytona Beach for Spring Break. On the way they stop for some gas and run into two hot girls with a gay guy. They invite the girls to join them in Florida. During the night drive, the driver has to take a detour. In the morning they end up in a town called Pleasant Valley and receive a warm welcome from the mayor and the entire town which is about to celebrate its jubilee. The girls and the guy also end up there and so does a black biker and his Asian girlfriend. The guys are enticed to stay by beautiful girls who seem to be always in the mood. But the excessive friendliness doesn't seem right and sure enough, the kids start disappearing. This is an entertaining horror movie with plenty of gore, attractive girls, and nudity. The acting is at times weak and the voice recording is rather poor. The violence and gore are quite original and the effects well done. The story really overdoes the hillbilly stereotype but overall the movie is a lot of fun nevertheless. In addition this movie has one of the best endings of any horror movie. There is an explanation about the townsfolk and also a twist.
i thought this movie was brilliant ... honestly. sure, it may not win any award for best acting but i loved it and honestly the actors were not that bad. but it sure was gruesome fa show, aha. like a guy getting his manhood bit off ... ouch? :D or like a guy getting skewered. yeah, not the most pleasant ways to die in this movie. aha, Robert england was genius. and Bianca smith (leah) is so freaking hot ;] i loved her in this movie aha, she played a sassy Asian and it was so sad when she died. i almost cried. aha, kidding.this movie is a creepy and entertaining flick, you should totally watch it.
I had the fun of watching a very campy movie known as "2001 Maniacs," which I guess was a remake of the '64 movie "Ten Thousand Maniacs." It's really about a group of college kids that travel to a small southern town for spring break only to find out that everybody that inhabits this town are psychopathic cannibals. I don't know where to begin with this review.First off, there were a lot of bloody effects and it was pretty gory. I enjoyed this, and some of the strategies used to 'off' the characters were pretty gruesome. The main problem that I had with this movie was that the horror and gore aspect of the film is overshadowed by the slapstick comedy, the crude redneck humor the terrible puns. Most people would find some of the puns funny but I found them campy and unnecessary and it was so over the top. What I found a little displeasing was how they viewed Southerners: there is a retarded kid that likes to kill cats, a young man who wants to have sex with a sheep, inbred sisters, a dumbfounded black man and everybody seems talks in stereotypical southern lingo. I am from the south so I am a little iffy on that but I can overlook it.This movie wants to be a horror comedy but it failed as a horror movie and I can only consider it as a comedy. Sure there is gore, some scares and a lot of deaths and cannibalism but I found myself laughing over ridiculous actions. The movie, of course for sex appeal, it littered with gorgeous girls who serve no purpose but as eye candy. I have not seen the original one, I might have to so that I can compare them but I could still watch this movie again and find it appealing as a dark comedy, but I cannot say that this is everything a horror is. If you like "Dead Alive," "The Frighteners" or even "Shaun of the Dead" then you might like this movie.
