Admirable film.

I cannot think of one single thing that I would change about this film. The acting is incomparable, the directing deft, and the writing poignantly brilliant.

The acting is good, and the firecracker script has some excellent ideas.

The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.

Bon Cop, Bad Cop (2006): Dir: Eric Canuel / Cast: Colm Feore, Patrick Huard, Sylvain Marcel, Pierre Lebeau, Lucie Laurier: Hilarious cop comedy about background. The result is one of the greatest comedies to come out of Canada. Colm Feore plays Martin Ward, a cop from Toronto and Patrick Huard plays David Bouchard from Quebec. Both are investigating the same crime due to the crime scene jurisdiction. Murder victims feature a tattoo and are involved with hockey. This leads to numerous plot turns interlocked with hilarious dialogue. Director Eric Canuel does a great job shifting humour along with both languages used in the film. Feore plays the straight man by the book but at home he is seen as ordinary even after his attempts to appear hip to his son. Huard is reckless in his actions often causing near death situations yet he has a wife and child. There are a strong host of supporting characters including Ward's sister whom Bouchard is found in bed with after Ward is attacked in his own home. The plot grows even more tense when Bouchard's daughter is kidnapped. Well made crime comedy with tremendous action combined with on target and twisted sense of humour particularly a scene where the two cops accidentally get high. Strong theme regarding language and background result in one of the best and funniest crime comedies of the decade. Score: 10 / 10

When a body is found on the billboard of the border of Quebec and Ontario a cop from each province are teamed together to investigate.Amusing buddy film refuses to follow the rules of the buddy film genre and is all the better for it. Sure one cop is gruff and one neat but even though they argue they do become rapid friends because there is some sort of respect from the start. They nicely drawn characters, like everyone in this movie. These are people you really do like. The mystery isn't all that mysterious since a good number of the pieces fall into place early, but at the same time this allows for the movie to go off in its own way, with a couple of twists I didn't see coming. The action scenes are well done, and like the rest of the film don't follow the typical patterns-people get hurt and bleed. Best of all its really funny, not joke funny but humor coming out of the characters. I really like the film. There is one problem with the film, at least for a large portion of American audiences and thats half the film is in French. Its subtitled but the characters bounce back and forth between English and French freely (and even conjugate curse words). If you don't mind the on again off again titling I highly recommend this film.

It's a buddy cop movie with some distinctly Canadian humour that's all about hockey. So, pretty much the most awesome movie ever made. There's nothing artistic or high-brow about its supposed 'style', and the hockey parodies are really obvious and fairly unfunny, but it's hard to top this kind of sheer outrageous fun nowadays. The banter between the leads is pretty great, and the linguistic comedy is occasionally hilarious. Still, it's rather embarrassing that this is both the highest grossing Canadian movie ever and the winner of the Genie for Best Picture in its year.Actually, thinking about it, it's still better than Titanic. So maybe not that embarrassing.

This is the most mediocre B Movie I have seen in a long while. Now I know why Canadian Productions can't have any commercial success. If this is the best we can come up with let's wrap it up. It's not worth the taxpayers money. I found the movie a typical Quebec propaganda, sexist where they present females as cheap trash and it is full of warped sense of humor of the Quebecers. Even the violence they've thrown in is not believable and lacks finesse. The plot lines are flat, style and structure lacking with no fresh ideas. The concept would have been great if 15 minutes into the film the Ontario Cop, Colm Fiore character did not revert to the French language and adapt to the French culture. From that point on the differences dissipated. This movie is not bilingual. It is in French, with English subtitles and occasionally some English sentences and swear words are thrown in. You could hear more English dialogue in Bollywood movies. If they really tapped into the differences of both cultures, the idiosyncrasies and obsessions, the wonderfully quirky and off-the wall character interactions, and I don't mean just throwing suspects in the trunk, it could have been a very interesting movie.
