Creature
A crew of scientists arrives on a far, cold planet to examine archaic artifacts of unknown origin. They discover that their German enemies already have a ship there. When they seek their help after a failed landing, they only find the Germans’ bodies, obviously slaughtered by one of the archaic creatures, awoken to new life. Now the alien is after them.

A lot more amusing than I thought it would be.
I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.
Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.
Yes, absolutely, there is fun to be had, as well as many, many things to go boom, all amid an atmospheric urban jungle.
The universe is divided between competing corporations Richter Dynamics (W Germany) and NTI (USA). An NTI expedition uncovers an alien egg on Saturn's moon Titan. A survivor rams and destroys spacestation Concorde orbiting Earth's moon. NTI ship Shenandoah crashes upon landing on Titan. They find their German rivals dead with Hofner (Klaus Kinski) the sole survivor. The dead are being controlled by parasites from the creature. This is a lower level Alien movie with a splash of The Thing. The problem is that everything is obviously reminiscent of Alien and strictly at a lower level. It starts at the beginning with the extremely cheesy dialog exchange with the two guys and the alien egg. It's so cheesy that it's funny. The sets are recycled. There are some perfectly good actors working here but they don't get anything good to work with. The melty blood-gushing faces are fun old-style FX but again, it's a funny thing more than a scary thing. The creature is a poor cousin to the Alien, even the first Alien. It's all inferior but not quite campy enough to be funny.
Although to be be fair, Ridley stole his idea from other people. But anyway. so the plot is that an ancient find is discovered on Titan, and even though two ships have been wiped out looking for it, they decide to send a third one with reckless disregard for things like "safety".This is where they pretty much rip off other people's better ideas, mostly Aliens and John Carpenter's The Thing. And even though the characters are pretty much warned that this alien can take over other people's bodies by a highly under-utilized Klaus Kinski working for booze money, the proceed to fall into a couple of alien traps. The acting and special effects don't make this worth watching at all. I'm sorry I did.
This show gives the audience an honest attempt at a crisis-type movie like: Airport, Poseidon Adventure, Earthquake, and others in outer space where it tries to imitate but only to a degree the Aliens theme. It has decent acting and convincing settings. There are harsh conditions successfully portrayed- ironically with too dim photography and low lighting in certain scenes (imagine how turbulent conditions would be on some planets) but this is a well-intended effect and not because, as some viewers claim, it might be a low-budget B movie. There is lots of edgy friction between the astronauts and scary suspense. Several mishaps put together including a surprise appearance by Klaus Kinsky, which is set as another angle to the story, happen to the crew that seem impossible to cope with in this show and holds the audience in tension. There are disturbing occurrences going on, in part because of the volatile nature of the planet Titan where this all takes place. There is a scene which eerily, although graphically, emphasizes a female spaceman's physique because of the bizarre occurrences happening in this unstable atmosphere of Saturn's moon. This scene is a realistic, yet important, attempt that the movie makes at demonstrating the possibly intoxicating effects on people of poisonous atmospheres that are there in space which the crew have to deal with--just as authentic and technically-minded as a science fiction story by Robert Heinlein might have been written. The enemy monster in this show is reminiscent of an alien villain monster from Gerry Andersen's "Fireball XL -5", a science fiction television puppet show in the 1960's. Same sinister approaching movements although these actions are blurred a bit, but this monster is made on a larger scale of course. Movies like this one often times succeed in making Outer Space appear as believable to viewers as a negative Utopia might cause one to have a persistent dread. Creature is probably an underrated, and maybe under appreciated, film for this science fiction genre. It is a show very much worthy of your trying out!
**THIS MAY CONTAIN (A) SPOILER(S). BASED ON YOUR PERSPECTIVE. BUT THEN AGIN IT COULD JUST BE A BUNCH OF FORESHADOW. I GUESS IT'S ALL ABOUT HOW YOU WANT TO WATCH MOVIES YA KNOW.**OK so first of all, the introduction sucks. The narrator needs a voice check and the idea is terrible. That and it pits Germany and USA against one another for commercial supremacy. Why could it not be Russia or China or some country that actually wants to kick America's butt for space stuff? Germany is nice. They help with the ISS (Look it up if ya don't know).Anyways, back to the point. It's a total rip-off of Alien. The landing on the Saturn moon, the creature hides a lot and doesn't show up 'til the end (that's because it looks like crap), and the format of the time period. By that I mean how it looks and feels. Watch Alien than watch this to see my point. Oh yeah, and the female characters completely scream of Ripley. Now to the acting. Fair. Somewhat of comical relief, somewhat good acting, somewhat bad acting. All around it's easy to get over. It is much better than some movies (i.e. Interplanetary; Lost World of the Grand Canyon; Gamera; Stranded)Cheesy sound effects. Half of the time I thought "Star Wars" for the sound effects. But on the contrary they are used to the best potential. All around, it's a decent sit down and watch a movie on a cloudy day" movie. It's definitely not a terrible, sucky movie. But it ain't the greatest. Classic 1980's movie for low-budget. I did enjoy it. The creature confrontation was very fast into the movie. Literally within the first half hour. Still, enough babble. Go watch. You might just be surprised.
