Strong and Moving!
If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.
The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
It is a whirlwind of delight --- attractive actors, stunning couture, spectacular sets and outrageous parties.
If you enjoyed the original Blair Witch Project and expect Book Of Shadows to follow relatively faithfully in its footsteps, you'll be in for a massive disappointment. Other than the opening 10 minutes or so with all the 'look what the first movie did to Burkittsville' stuff, the rest of the film might as well be a standard spooky horror yarn with nothing whatsoever to do with the Blair Witch lore. Go into it expecting a cheesy B-movie other than a Blair Witch sequel, then, and you may be pleasantly surprised by the bizarre and unexplained goings-on that... um, go on. Please stop making bad sequels like The Descent 2, Hostel 2 , Saw 2 and this one .
Book of shadows Blair witch 2 is about NO NO NO I'm not even going to say the plot because this film is terrible. Blair witch 2 insulted this franchise completely with its horrible plot and bad acting. The film was only this is the only good point by the way,it gave a interesting tale but it was so bad,the movies end when the three survivors did not kill the victims and the witch made it look like they did it,that was one of the worst endings I have ever seen in cinematic history..ugh this film annoyed me off completely,I hated this film and that's all I have to say. If you did not like the first movie don't watch this horrible film. Over the 2000 years, the Blair witch project get very successful it was released into 3 video games and then in 2009,the Blair witch project 3 was announced and was put on IMDb. Then no news was released and the movie was probably not going to be released UNTIL Adam Wingard, director of a segment in V/H/S and the guest announced the woods,a horror film for September 2016 that was under a fake title and it was really..'BLAIR WITCH 3'DUN DUN DUN,the movie was released in theaters and was about Heather's brother who tries to find her with a bunch of friends but stumbles into the Blair witch's hood and ya they..they die. The movie was said to be as scary as the first film and when I watched it..ya it was just not my thing,it had a good plot but it was no where as real and scary as the first film.
Director Joe Berlinger does an exemplary job of creating a truly terrifying environment in this film and he keeps the suspense level high from beginning to the very end shot. This is an intense film and the thrills are unrelenting. Haunting imagery and some truly horrific sequences are likely to stay with audiences for many years. The cast is exceptionally good and give some very powerful individual performances. It is, however, Kim Director who stands out and gives the film something very special. She is absolutely mesmerizing in the movie and when she is on screen no one can avert their eyes. She is a magnetic screen presence and the camera loves her. When she isn't in a scene, her absence is sorely missed and upon her return the movie catches fire again. Her role here is essential and casting her was a stroke of genius.
Was I the only one left with the feeling that this was another horror story that someone decided to graft elements of the Blair Witch onto to make a quick buck. The plot is that the town in MA where the original film was filmed has been overrun by tourists. And our title group of five stereotyped characters then proceed to have strange encounters that we all know ended badly by the intermittent splicing of police interrogation scenes.I give the movie credit for its style and the locations picked out. I just wish it gave us characters we cared about even a little. The Goth Chick and the Wiccan Babe were clichés more than characters, and it showed. Let's throw in the "redneck sheriff" for extra points.
