Fantastic!
The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.
The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one
The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
I will always love this movie. The chemistry between all of the girls is so great and real and genuine. The singing and talent in this movie is so great and this movie has such heart and I love how you get to know each other girls lives and you see why they want to be a part of the cheetah girls and why it means so much to them. After High School Musical this is my second favorite Disney film.
A "bro"-saying Hispanic classic. Adrienne Bailon plays Chanel, a sweet, ghetto Latina who desires to be famous. She's a very sweet girl as well, like most Nuyorican girls I know, I'm Nuyorican. Sabrina Bryan is also talented as well, and who can forget Raven Simone. But I love Adrianne Bailon the most. That's besides the point. Yeah the story is a bit cheesy, but this one was a good one, and I wouldn't be surprised if it won some awards. Much better than "High School Musical," it is cute and touching. A story of loyalty and friendship. It's a nice Hispanic movie. For all you guys who want a nice movie with hot girls, see this one, you won't be let down :D
This is another made-for-TV film and as such is a film that is not high on intellectual output but, if you just sit down and as with Charlies Angels 1 and 2 (the ones with Cameron Diaz, Bill Murray etc.) leave your brain at the door and just enjoy the film for what it is (which is a film about four mid to late teens trying to make it big as self-choreographed (by one of the group members) singers in the music industry) then you should have no problem liking or even loving the film. The film centres on four teenagers (the characters' ages not the actresses) but around them is the usual thoroughfare that is seen in these types of films. There was the unscrupulous record boss that wanted to change them and their style. There was the mother/manager that against her better judgement allowed her daughter and the group to almost get done by him and there was the silly ending that brought the girls back together after one was even less willing to follow the boss's ideas even more than the other three and walked away from the group. The other three eventually decided she was right and also left but by then the group was no more until the silly ending that is. Knowing and accepting that it was following the usual plot lines for this type of film meant it could be enjoyed and yes the second one was better but this one was by no means as bad as others have made it out to be. 8 out of 10 for me.
I haven't seen this movie but am more concerned with the British user's comment (first review - partial comment pasted below) that he/she knows Americans have the tendency to be cheesy. Please enlighten us on your version of what makes an American, "cheesy", because that was uncalled for and perpetuates trouble. And by-the-way, something attracted YOU to this "cheesy" American kid movie! So, with your comment in mind, who is really the cheesy one here? "Cheetah girls is a film about four girls, who aim to be singers. The characters are not rounded enough to carry this type of film through. I know that Americans do have the tendency to be quite cheesy, but there's absolutely no excuse for this film."...
