Excellent but underrated film

This is a must-see and one of the best documentaries - and films - of this year.

what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.

True to its essence, the characters remain on the same line and manage to entertain the viewer, each highlighting their own distinctive qualities or touches.

Never heard of it. Came across it on Netflix. This is one of the best pulp fiction crime movies I have seen in a long time. It's both gritty and funny in parts. The characters are awesome and the story and pacing just roll.Definitely recommend.

I had no expectations going in, but was pleasantly surprised. The cast really pulled this together and did a fine job. I didn't feel like the blood and gore was over the top and it had a humorous touch to it. Not typical at all. Well done.

To the few reviewers who gave this a low score, the only thing that impresses you is yourself. After a few minutes I almost didn't continue watching this movie, considering the sad sack main character, but I am SO glad I did! It's a dark comedy and a who-done-it, populated with some great performances, especially John Hawkes, whom I was unfamiliar with, and including Robert Forster, Clifton Collins Jr. and Anthony Anderson. Considering the vast amount of garbage available to watch, don't miss this film, watch it! You'll be glad you did!

Compelling , impeccably acted film noir complete with hard drinking gumshoe, grizzled ex cops, hookers pimps and righteous retribution.Absolutely excellent.
