It is an exhilarating, distressing, funny and profound film, with one of the more memorable film scores in years,

there are only a few reasons why this movie isn't in the 5 dollar bin or forgotten all together: 1. the acting (while not flawless) keeps the movie from being completely stale. 2.it has amassed a reasonable fan following from a previous foreign film and a book. 3. the directors and writers of this movie, i'm sure, were not idiots. they put moments in the movie that at the same time completely cliché and faux dramatic, but are still compelling to the viewer (for example overdosing on drugs or resorting to suicide to escape limbo). just like when your average corrupt politician makes a speech about his recent trip to feed the kids in Africa or just so happens to mention how much he gave to charity. its a shameless con to get you to think there is substance in the movie. when in actuality, the movie is stuck in limbo.

This movie may be no masterpiece but I thought it was OK. I liked the story, the cast was OK, and everything I thought was just average. I will say after what I saw, this has got to be the most disturbing and chilling movie, I have ever watched. Not to give too much away, its a pseudo murder, ghostly thriller story. Thats what got me hooked to this movie. I was literally getting chills at every moment something big was going to happen and it just stuck with me until the ending. I will say, there were some moments that I felt were weak. Then there were moments where I felt sorry and connected with some of the characters. (Thats a total different story and I don't want to talk about it.) Anyway, I wouldn't recommend this to a horror fan but for anyone that just wants to get a good chill or enjoys something along the lines of a good ghost story. I find that karma since this movie is based off a book (sorry its not Stephen King). Overall, this gets a 6 out of 10.

I'd recommend watching it if you haven't seen it.  I agree that it isn't as it seems from the trailers, but that should not deter you from seeing it.  The trailers make it seem like this guy is in limbo and he has to solve his own death to come back alive... or was it to go to the afterlife... I forget.  But that isn't how the movie is.  The story is about high schooler Nick Powell, who is an aspiring writer, and how he was wrongfully accused of something he didn't do, all because his best friend falls in deep with a criminally troubled fellow high schooler.  Nick Powell was attacked and left for dead, hanging on the balance between life and death.  The only one able to hear, and ultimately help him recover, is his attacker.Having said that, the movie is what it is; a psychological thriller with a little bit of drama and character development thrown in there.  Now maybe that's not what you were expecting... which might be why most people didn't like it... but there is absolutely nothing wrong with this movie.  Well I mean nothing wrong with it being a psychological thriller with a bit of drama thrown in.Some of the camera shots and acting were a bit weird at times, but overall it was a deep, and somewhat emotional movie that I would recommend watching.  Don't believe everything you hear and read... in order to really know if a movie is good or not, you have to watch and judge for yourself... at least that's what I believe.

The movie was not so bad at first. Unrealistic, but nice. After about the first hour I even liked it. Nevertheless, the more I watched it, the less I liked it. The movie was good until Annie was wounded. Then it suddenly became awful. Plot became stupid. It looked like they didn't know how to end this movie. So gradually my grade fell from 7 to 3.The final scene of writing the "message" on the plane was ridiculous. So was the "saving" of Nick and the ability of the girl to live several hours with a hole in her belly and blood dropping down (and get rid of the cops, and then walk a couple of miles). Also it was strange that everyone was becoming a ghost when dying, except of the girl. And finally her wound was not the most severe. I mean Pete survived after trying to poison himself. Nick was much worse, and was lying a couple of days, and then drowning, but also survived. But she died quickly...So, 3/10. It could be made much, much better.
