A waste of 90 minutes of my life

I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.

THE Germans AND AmericansThe film is extremely black and white and there is no humanization of both sides. The Americans are far too nice and good, with an exception for one of them who still doesn't do anything bad. The Germans on the other hand are these insanely fanatical killing machines who want nothing more than to torture civilians and rape women! There is not a single German in the movie who isn't killing civilians or spitting on Americans. It's unrealistic and very biased.THE BATTLESThe first battle requires you to suspend your disbelief, we have around a dozen American tanks fighting around the same amount of German tanks in some obscure field in the middle of a forest, which is kinda ridiculous on its own, but the Americans are supposedly deep behind enemy lines, how on earth the American tanks manage to find themselves in this situation?Almost every single battle takes place in an obscure field, surrounded by thick forest, and for some reason both sides think its a good idea to drive into the center of the field and fight there rather than using their rifles and armor which is bloody well designed for ranged combat!The immobilized American TD, "low on ammo and supplies" maned by 2 guys, managed to take out 2 entire platoons of Tigers without taking a scratch... Do i even need to explain why this is stupid?THE STORYSo the story is driven by these annoying little kids and their deceitful mother. The Americans come across said mother and immediately she tells them "an orphanage is in danger", "low on ammo and supplies" our brave heroes decide to help this mother. I have so much to say about this... The 8 or so surviving Americans didn't even make a plan, they where going to walk over to the orphanage and save it from "danger", what ever that means, and then walk back through enemy lines with several children. They all blindly believed this American sounding, French, actually Portuguese, nun mother. And as it turns out the mother was lying and it was just her children, the movie barely even explains why she needs help or why they are in danger, she just says her husband is an ambassador and that's it. As i said before the story hinges on these annoying kids and their mother who we know nothing about. The kids are on their own ridiculous, for the past 3-5 years they have been living in war torn Europe and yet they for some reason run away at the smallest explosion, even though their mother is right there and it usually the instinct of the child to run to their parents not into the middle of the German filled forest. Half of the Americans die because of these children! And yeah, they have been living in Europe for 3-5 years, why did they pick now to escape? Why did the Germans pick now to kill them?I would also like to bring to attention the final scenes where the Americans escape from and kill the main bad guy. So we have 2 Americans, just 2, for the past 24 hours they have been running and fighting across half of Western Europe with barely any rest "out of ammo and supplies" which means no food or water, hell the main character was tortured into unconsciousness not 5 minutes before they decided to escape. So our 2 heroes decide to break free in the middle of the day and in the middle of German encampment with nothing more than a knife and an MP40. Our heroes manage to walk past the 30+ Germans at the base and jump into a truck before speeding off! The characters also don't seem to understand how blood loss works, two characters are literally shot but somehow they manage to stay alive without any proper treatment for hours. The main character was tortured into unconsciousness and he was bleeding every where yet he managed to run into the back of a truck, shoot at the Germans for a couple of minutes and fight the main bad guy in hand to hand combat then come out alive. The equipment, weapons, uniforms and occasionally vehicles are all pretty decent, except for the CGI of course. The terrain and landscapes chosen for the film are pretty good as well. These are the only good things i found in this film. One last point: the characters in general are bland, stereotypical and one sided.

I couldn't even make it through the entire film and that's saying a lot. The battle scenes looked like something from a year 2000 video game. The Germans are using the wrong type of tanks and they don't even have the proper symbols on them. The Germans didn't even have accents. Every war cliché in the book is used.The movie starts off with a ridiculous battle that isn't remotely real. The German soldiers are all horrible shots. They can't hit the American soldiers who are 5' in front of them. The battle techniques don't even make any sense. Why would the German soldiers stand in front of their tanks out in the open? The Americans are running at the Germans who have a machine gun that can't hit anything even though its pointed at the Americans. Then the Americans throw a German stick grenade into a conveniently open hatch for a tank. I mean why not leave the hatch open in the middle of a battle.Then the tank goes into the forest with the Americans protecting it with small arms fire. The Germans are in hiding and can't shoot the Americans who are walking in front of them. Never mind the fact that the Americans seem to have an unlimited supply of ammunition and barely have to ever reload. Then somehow they get sidetracked with a mission with a sexy nun who of course speaks perfect English to save some orphans. I mean this is standard military procedure. Instead of getting to safety they decide on the nuns mission with a limited supply of fuel. A few cans of fuel seem to power this tank forever. The entire movie is the tank crew running around picking off Germans with small arms fire behind enemy lines. Even though the Americans are completely exposed they are pretty much invincible.

I was never a fan of those bad CGI effects they always use in the SciFi movies and did not know is was them who made this movie. so now it makes sense. Thank you for clearing that up Marchus, it was pretty damn bad. The lead GI and the girl in distress were awful actors, I expect they never did any acting before but were cheap. But I do agree the lead Evil German officer did a great job, I even watched the making of the movie and honestly they should just have made it all with him. Solid actor who seem to work over hard to carry this film. Fighting his way up stream against the bad CGI was an impossibly task for Struckmann. Give him something in a bigger role in bigger films and leave the rest as extras.

I don't really see a point in making a full review of this movie as others have beaten me to it. The fact that it has a rating of 2 would imply that some children have watched it and that they also had access to the internet to click the IMDb scoring system. I gave it a "1" because I cannot choose zero!!I managed to last five minutes before I turned it off.Since watching this movie I have applied for the Medal of Honour because I feel I deserve it for actually lasting 5 minutes!! The worst part is that somehow I have to come up with at least 10 lines to write about this movie regardless of the fact that the title summary says it all!! Yes, it is that bad!
