You won't be disappointed!
Good movie but grossly overrated
A film with more than the usual spoiler issues. Talking about it in any detail feels akin to handing you a gift-wrapped present and saying, "I hope you like it -- It's a thriller about a diabolical secret experiment."
A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.
This is a really awesome movie! Jamie Kennedy is awesome and hilarious! In 1986, a 12-year-old named Justin Schumacher has a break dancing group called The Funky Fresh Boyz who try to win a competition. During their performance, Justin falls off stage and is put into a coma. 20 years later, right before his parents take him off life support, he wakes up. He tries to adapt to the new age. He finds all of his old friends, and his childhood crush, Jennifer, who is going to marry their childhood enemy, Kip. Kip hosts a dance contest that is shown live on TV. The winner gets $100,000. Justin wants to repay his parents, so he gets The Funky Fresh Boyz back together to win the money. Justin tries to get Jennifer to fall in love with him again. If you love comedy, and Jamie Kennedy, you'll love KICKIN' IT OLD SKOOL!!!
Strange, this movie was funnier than I thought it would be. For a movie filled with 80s clichés, this wasn't bad. Of course, it brought out a lot of 80s style things, but some were out of place. To begin with, there were a few things that came out in the 80s that were post-1986 that somehow Kennedy's character (Justin) was familiar with. In the deleted scenes, the extended night club scene uses some anachronisms.Despite those flaws, its funny to see Jamie Kennedy act like a 12 year old in a 32 year old body. Especially when Kennedy discovers women and the internet. He becomes confused about the issue and tries to emulate the beginning of an adult movie in completely wrong situations.Of course, Kennedy learning how to please a woman via Hector was disturbing. I don't want to see that again. But it was for comedy.Overall, its a good movie. It has its goofs and problems, but it is quite funny at times. So have at it, unless you born after the 80s. If that is the case, you might not understand the movie. "B"
i really enjoyed the movie. it was hilarious and at points in the movie you could also learn a lesson from it. and Jesse Brown is totally HOT!!!!!!i thought that the movie was awesome because it had a lot of parts to it where you felt like you could relate to it and it makes you wonder just how short life can be , and exactly how fast it can go by. but i liked the movie because it reminds me of my neighbors. there son loves to break dance and he enjoys doing it. will there be any sequels to kickin' it old skool or will you just keep people guessing on what might happen next?and if there are any sequels will any be made in Canada???
Yep! "Stuuuuupid", thats what you got to be to go see this piece of junk.Acting -> Stinks Direction -> Stinks Jokes -> so badly setup you see them coming a mile away, some oldies might smile a couple of times thinking back... but thats it, nothing really funny the whole damn movie.Overall, made really cheap and it shows.I am willing to bet my, and my future kids testicles in saying this is going to flop SO badly because you have to be an utter moron to like a movie like this, even taking into consideration that there are many morons out there... this would be too much for a large majority of them too.
