This is one of the worst horrible remakes I have ever experience. This movie is absolutely horrible painful to watch. This movie is garbage and junk. Un watchable. This movie is so boring, slow paced. The first 10 minutes nothing happens. I don't care about characters. Both of the lead characters are annoying. This film rips off and steal the formula from the first film and the second one. Sophia Bush is awful she is awful, annoying I dislike her so much. Sean Bean is not John Ryder he can't hold a candle to Rutger Hauer. This movie sucks. Who is this unknown actor Zachary Knighton? I don't know the actor, there is no acting in this movie. No action, no heart, no soul nothing this movie is blank. It is a painful to watch. It is not a good movie. I love The Hitcher (1986) to death it is my favorite film off all time. It is a cult classic one of the best horror films ever. I like The Hitcher II: I've Been Waiting (2003) it is a good sequel I enjoy it. Kari Wuhrer was a great bad-ass lead to a scared girl from a victim to a heroine. So yes I disagree with critics about the sequel.Sophia Bush and Zachary Knighton are horrible lead, they can't act. In the original film there was trough half of the film one boy, he was alone against a maniac who try's to kill him and the hero try's to survive, while in this movie they are two against one. Against one hitcher two people come one. They go and kill off again the main leads from the first film the same that the sequel did. You don't have a suspense, you don't have intensity in here. Dave Meyers failed to direct the film he doesn't know how the direct a film. I don't hate all the remakes but this one was pointless, soulless remake and did not been made. The remakes I like: Fright Night (2011), Friday the 13th (2009), The Hills Have Eyes (2006), My Bloody Valentine 3D (2009), The Punisher (2004), Punisher: War Zone (2008), The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003), Assault on Precinct 13 (2005), House of Wax (2005) and Dawn of the Dead (2004) I like those movies they are miles way better!Remakes I hate: A Nightmare On Elm Street, Halloween, Terminator: Genysys, RoboCop and The Hitcher those are awful horrible movies. I can't stand them. Alexandre Aja was a better director he know what to do and I love The Hills Have Eyes Remake, I love Friday the 13th reboot to death I love those two films. Marcus Nispel directed better remake than Dave Meyers ever did. Joy Ride (2001), Road Games (1981), Duel (1971), Jeepers Creepers (2001) and When Strangers Appears (2001) are much better road movies in my opinion than this remake.1/10 F I hate this movie and I dislike it very much. I will never watch this movie ever again in my inter life I don't want to have this movie in my movie collection. I am staying away.

I give this SOME sort of rating for the acting but it's pretty ridiculous on a lot of levels. Of course the car doesn't start as they hitcher's walking toward them. Of course they have to stop for gas afterward the first chance they get (if they DIDN'T have to, no way WOULD you; you want to get as far away as you can for the best chance of not crossing paths again because he's probably irate). A fully-grown couple wouldn't let a grown man like Sean Bean of a hitcher have fun way back in their TRUNK with their little kid. That's unrealistically trusting. Then, it wouldn't be that hard for the main couple to get the message across as they race up beside them that he's crazy. When the couple pulls up to the restaurant, they'd get a lot more help than they do in this stupid movie, and when the girl sees the hitcher pull up to the restaurant from the restroom, why would she freak out and lock herself in to secure herself from him?? She's in a public place with people around! What would he do to her? When the COP shows up, why would he arrest the couple? That's such thriller/horror B.S. And when the girl tells him that they're the ones who had the cops called in the first place, why would the waitress choose to just keep quiet and stay out of it when asked for confirmation? Realistically, the cop would absolutely question everyone there, not be so immediate to subdue and bust the couple. When the girl's coming cautiously down the jail stairs, she'd be able to hear the hitcher talking to her boyfriend. He's not talking very loudly, of course, but it's empty down there except for them, and thus SILENT except for them.

To be honest, I wasn't expecting much from this film when I set out to watch it. I'd already heard all of the negative press, and two further things stood against it in my opinion: the first was the involvement of producer Michael Bay, whose work I'm not a great fan of (that bloated mess TRANSFORMERS, anyone?), and the second was that I saw no reason for a remake to begin with. The original THE HITCHER, made in 1986 and starring Rutger Hauer, is a perfectly good little thriller with plenty of scares, shocks, and suspenseful moments. So why remake it just twenty-one years later? The reason is obvious: money. And this version of THE HITCHER is little more than a cynical ploy to make more of it, without putting much thought or effort into the movie to begin with. However, despite all these flaws, negatives, and problems, I was left feeling genuinely surprised, because I thought this film wasn't too bad. Sure, it's no classic, and it's not one I'll ever really want to watch again, but it passes the time. It doesn't muster up much suspense but as a film reliant on 'jump' scares, it works a treat, with sudden characters bursting onto the screen, or bursts of sound or music, making me start from my seat time after time. It may not be art, but if it's what you're looking for...I'll admit right now that I have a soft spot for Sean Bean, one of my favourite actors. Maybe it's his working class origins or his rugged look, but I always enjoy seeing this guy up on screen. Having watched him act the hell out of the other cast members in THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING, it was no surprise seeing him give a great performance here. He's subtle, scary, and very much deranged, an absolute psychopath with no emotion or care for his own safety or the lives of others. Bean doesn't fascinate like Hauer did, but he's perfectly good in the role. The other cast members are okay. Sophia Bush and Zachary Knighton aren't given much to work with other than react to the various menaces, but they convince as the young college couple. Character actor Neal McDonough is on hand playing the lawman investigating the crimes but he's criminally wasted here, especially after he gave such a good performance in BAND OF BROTHERS – he could well have played the Hitcher himself with those staring eyes.As far as remaking the original movie goes, some bits are the same while others are different. One action set-piece in the middle of the film really got my goat, because of the decision to play some stupid, intrusive piece of pop music right in the middle of it. I know they did it for effect, but it really doesn't work – I'm a traditionalist when it comes to soundtracks, give me an orchestra any day. Elsewhere, it's predictable fun, with characters hunting around in dark basements or being confronted with bloodied corpses. The gore and violence is amped up, crucially in a moment near the climax where a character is tied between the cabin and trailer of a lorry, and it provides a welcome distraction from the plot holes and lack of logic you see elsewhere.Despite a rushed ending, I still enjoyed this movie. It keeps you watching and Bean, although he doesn't exactly set the screen alight, is an able menace; the escape from the prison van is well handled and disturbing. THE HITCHER is the kind of film I can take or leave, but I've seen worse – a lot worse...

Rating-3/10The Hitcher, a horror slasher movie that is a remake of the 1986 version, but this movie is one that doesn't do anything to make you feel this is done well. Starring Sean Bean in a role he actually takes on well, this movie still fails to ignite genuine thrills and the plot starts to become a little absurd and kind of as if no one actually thought of what was next. Nevertheless this movie is not terrible, but it is a bad one and that contains many reasons. Now if your going to go ahead and make a horror movie and then remake an old one of that, don't do it like this does. The Hitcher becomes a film that's plot is just insane, I mean it doesn't lack it's thrills but still that is what the people behind this seem to want, only big stunts and thrills, no actual real or raw emotion and no thought out story. The movie falls apart mid way through and although still manages to grip you slightly, you do end up watching it in a kind of "I know this is dumb but I'll finish watching" way.Now I said Sean Bean is good and I mean that, in fact the acting grade goes up a slight bit because of him, I mean he is genuinely evil and really gives it his all, he is the star of this and he knows what he is doing. The only real shame is the rest of the main cast who are thrown into a pit of fairly poor acting, Sophia Bush and Zachary Knighton are the two main characters here on a road trip, and they really don't add much to this film, both are poor and at times it can seem as if Bean is carrying them a long himself. Now with a movie that is produced by big action crazed Michael Bay, you must expect the most crazy stunts, you know the kind where most would die but not in this. Now the stunts are done well no doubt and some of the settings are really nice, the movie though does nothing to help this and when the stunts come in, it usually becomes a really stupid scene where very little realistic happens. So I guess one of the big questions here is, who would like a movie like this?, well fortunately I can see many will. This is the kind of film where I feel most will know this isn't good but may still enjoy it, I was engaged throughout and even though you can plainly see the holes in it, you can still enjoy what this is(in a sense). I wouldn't recommend this to all though, the movie is a horror but it doesn't have so many scream moments, real jumpy parts, it has some but not enough so this isn't the most traditional of slasher movies. In the end I felt this was worth a watch before I saw, but not after finishing it, the kind of movie that seems kind of an OK watch beforehand but afterwards makes you feel disappointed, but not hateful. Dave Meyers directs this is a way only he can, and only in a way Michael Bay can produce, it's big, loud and scary, but with just a little too much emphasise on the big part. A decent running time(84 minutes) for those who want a quick film maybe on a dark night, it won't keep you up at night and although Sean Bean could haunt your nightmares, he'll probably end up assisted with another terrible cast.
