You won't be disappointed!
An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.
The acting in this movie is really good.
It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.
I heard about the movie years ago, where it was John Belushi playing against type. I finally saw it in the library and picked it up for evening entertainment. Good thing I didn't pay for it.Belushi plays a very popular reporter for the Chicago Sun-Times who prints plenty of embarrassing stories about a Chicago alderman, with the result that he gets beaten up and put into a hospital. His boss comes to him and has him travel to the Rocky Mountains on assignment to try to interview a reclusive female eagle researcher. He is unhappy to go there, but has no choice, and after quite a bit of mountain climbing, he reaches her cabin. There are some mild laughs, and the idea could perhaps have been good, but everyone seems to be going through the motions, and the movie ends up feeling lifeless and dull. Not only Belushi but everybody else seems out of place here,
If you think you're a John Belushi fan but you've never seen this movie, then I feel for you! You have no idea what you've missed. John Belushi was never more touching, poignant, witty, or incredibly COMEDIC than in this film. His timing and his tone was dead on. I just couldn't have adored this movie any more. I've seen it over and over again (and I look forward to seeing it again!) There are TONS of quotable laugh-lines in this movie. About every fifth line is a classic, in my opinion. Where were the critics' rave reviews when this film came out? What were they thinking? This is about as wonderful as a romantic comedy can get. Thanks, thanks, thanks to all who played a part in bringing it to us. And RIP dear John Belushi. We will always miss you.
OK. first of all lets mention the things that are not good in this film. 1. The soundtrack and the song over the end credits. 2. The "80's" plotting.( seemingly casual info. regarding a minor characters phobias turns out to be not such a throwaway line after all.) 3.In some scenes Belushi seems a little ill at ease. OK that is it with the negative lets start with positive. This is an underrated gem of a romantic comedy. There is roughly a laugh out loud line or sight gag every minute of the film. (To compare that is about 108 more laughs than "My big fat Greek wedding" and "the wedding crashers" combined) Belushi is mostly terrific. He never played the same part twice anyway in his short career and he is great as the hard nosed newspaper man who falls completely for,and you cannot blame him, Blair Brown as a passionate animal activist. (You know i have spent 25 years looking for a woman like this.............. When God when?)Great Great movie.
Well, i think its really a cute laugh-and-sigh movie.John Belushi is at his best as a non-comic character and the movie is a typical 'cult' - that is, not a masterpiece, OK, just cute, but the more you see it, the more you WILL see it MORE...This is a great movie of feelings and fun and stories and love. John Belushi is at his best as a brilliant actor, and all the cameos are well placed. Plus, personally it reminds me of something very personal - and when a movie touches personal feelings, well, it HAS to be a good movie, isn't it?The rating here is a lot lower than mine, of which i can't give an explanation. It is one of my favorite light comedies.
