hyped garbage
A story that's too fascinating to pass by...
Strong acting helps the film overcome an uncertain premise and create characters that hold our attention absolutely.
This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
Hallie's and Ethan's divorced mother is about to remarry. When Hallie goes to visit Santa Claus, she asks for an unusual gift - she wants her parents back together again. All I Want for Christmas is a romantic family comedy starring Jamey Sheridan, Kevin Nealon, Harley Jane Kozak, Lauren Bacall and Leslie Nielsen as Santa and i gotta say this film is so adorable and touching, the plot is very simple with those 2 kids trying to get their parents back together and as far as the kids go both Ethan Embry & Thora Birch were terrific especially Birch. I wish that Nielsen had a bit more screen time as Santa Claus because he was really good but overall this movie was really good and i'm definitely gonna see it again next year!!!
This cheesy little Christmas movie is my favorite of all time. When my children were younger we never missed sitting and watching it together. Now we all own a copy on DVD and it has become our traditional Christmas movie along with the classics. The costumes in this movie, especially Santa's, are gorgeous. The relationships between parents and children, brother and sister, grandmother... are endearing. The performance of Baby It's Cold Outside is a definite highlight. The movie does a good job of giving off the New York feel of Christmas. I hate to admit it, but my children and I so love this movie, that I am Nana to my grandchild because of it.
Leslie Nielsen took a break from his usual latter day lowbrow comedy to portray a department store Santa Claus who just might be the real thing in this 1991 Paramount release. Shades of "Miracle On 34th Street." The story here is not exactly feel good material since it has to do with a couple who are planning to separate and then divorce so close to the Christmas holiday. This really upsets their kids (Thora Birch and Ethan Embry) so they decide to ask the aforementioned Santa to help them in their efforts to bring their parents back together in time for the holidays. Almost everything in the film is overacted and used to a rather poor effect. All I want for Christmas is to know that I'll never have to see this one again.
This film carried me through my parents separation when i was Twelve years old. I was left in a total state of shock which imprisoned me in my bedroom for several weeks with the only comfort being the television, VCR and a copy of all i want for christmas.I can't honestly say what it is I like about this film, it could be one thing or a million things.....it is completely mesmorising. From the bad acting to the in-film songs......this film is a classic.Having seen the film now around 200 times I know the complete script off by heart and can pre-empt every forthcoming scene with childish glee.Opening scene"From the top" "God bless thee......"I am not mental
