It is not deep, but it is fun to watch. It does have a bit more of an edge to it than other similar films.
After playing with our expectations, this turns out to be a very different sort of film.
It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.
It is an exhilarating, distressing, funny and profound film, with one of the more memorable film scores in years,
People should understand that short horror films like Guinea Pig aren't very story based, but for me, Guinea Pig failed at being scary just because I didn't feel like the characters had any motivation, and I was just left with a bad taste in my mouth from the gore.I understand that this film was mostly meant to shock viewers and make them feel uncomfortable with it's disturbing visuals, which could make Guinea Pig decent in the sense that it achieved what it set out to do, but because of how realistic the torture scenes and gore were, I really just didn't enjoy it as much as movies like Cannibal Holocaust where the gory scenes are planned out really well and give the scenes a freaky, shocking feeling, instead of just someone getting stabbed. The only part I kind of enjoyed was the final scene in which the girl is stabbed through the eye with a needle. I'm not a fan of needles to begin with, so this really freaked me out. While the special effects were really good, I still >>DIDN'T SEE<< any reason for the scene in the first place.
This is quite easily the stupidest thing I've ever seen. I don't know how this has a reputation for being so horrible. The girl in the film is halfway smiling during most of the "torture," if you can call it that. I can't believe this was a serious attempt at horror.Oh no, they're spinning her in around in a chair! Oh, the humanity! She doesn't even make any noises for the last half of it. She's just sitting there as they pour a few maggots on a wound, and even when they shove a massive needle through her eyeball... not a peep. What was up with the sheep guts part? She screams as they lightly toss sheep organs onto her, but not a noise as they shove a needle through her eyeball. Seems pretty legit to me! I was expecting to see something that would haunt my dreams for weeks. Instead I'm laughing at how weak of an effort it is 10 minutes after watching. The second Guinea Pig (Flowers of Flesh and Blood) is 100 times more disturbing, but even that one isn't particularly awful. It took itself less seriously though, and even has a twisted kind of comic relief in the way the killer is wearing a samurai helmet, has a powdered white face, and fake half-rotten hillbilly teeth. There have been college dorm hazing rituals more awful than this lame film. If you want to laugh at something stupid, then sure give this film a try. Otherwise, just move along and find something else.
This is the first out of the Guinea Pig series, and is one of the more infamous films out of the collection. It took me a long time to finally man up and get my hands on a copy of this notorious group of films. I bought the Guinea Pig Box Set and decided to watch the collection in order by release date. So I popped this sucker in and sat down. From what I had read on the internet, and realizing the content involved in this film, I was expecting to test my nerves in full force. This ended up not being the case. The film focuses on a group of men who kidnap a woman and begin torturing her with the hopes of discovering the human breaking point, and how long a human can tolerate pain.Sounds like one sick flick right? Wrong. The film fails to shock. This may be because I have become desensitized over the years do to my obsession with horror, but I think it is safe to say that any true gorehound could sit through this with ease.On the other hand an individual who does not have a well knowledge of this type of film will most likely be overwhelmed and disgusted by the images they see on the screen. Though it failed to shock me the film contains some pretty mean spirited and graphic scenes of violence. Including the ripping out of fingernails, intestines thrown at an unconscious woman, and a needle through the eye.Overall I think for majority of the gorehounds on this board that you should just get your hands on a copy of this film for the novelty of it, but I suggest that for any new comers to these type of films that you should work your way up to this one.
C'mon people, you can't be serious, another case of advertising snuff when it totally isn't! This isn't even remotely scary nor is it terrifying or depraved - it is just utterly terrible amateurish videowork, made for the next party to get the girls laid. The gore is incredibly bad, even the eye-scene is far from making me want to puke but just making me want to take the camera and hit those guys over the head. The girl is just laying there rubber-faced, not moving at all. It would have been funnier to use a real doll instead. One season of "I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!" is more frightening than this one. Don't waste your time or your money.
