Expected more
After playing with our expectations, this turns out to be a very different sort of film.
Each character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.
Prom Night III now lead by Courney Tyler who escape her prison once again to finish her revenge when she stumbles up in a love interest to mold in her own image. While it was nice to continue the Queen of Horror I wish it has paid more attention since she should be possessing her murderer and walking around the reunion killing her own classmates. Plus her tombstone should be blown into a million pieces instead of rehashed her.Anyways, the film takes on more comedic campy features as she kills anyone bothering her man in creative ways straight from the 50s like the guidance counselor strapped to a hair dryer, a science teacher impaled by ice cream comes and the star quarter back catching a killer football. Yet the humour can be a little juvenile in how the principal telling the chess team to play with themselves or Alex calling home only to hear squawking voices. The music was at least sensual, sexy and got the romantic horror elements they were going for. The effects were top notch and the high school set seems more expansive then we are lead to believe up to this point.the visuals of hell were gruesome, scary and fit the theme without going over the top.The ending was pretty brave move to take instead of a cheesy happy ending you expect from a sequel like this. Entertaining, but doesn't have any real substance to think about once its over.
This third movie in the series which ends up being a really fun comedy at times. If you looking for Horror movie this is not one at all, As this sequel to second bring back Mary lou again. This movie was no were near as good as Part 2, I not sure if liked this better then first at the moment.I did find some of this movie more fun to watch then the first prom night movie. Some of the deaths were very, what that word I am looking for, Fizzy , yeah go with that. I didn't really like Hell scene in the movie, seem out of the place and the acting in this movie was not bad,I give 4/5 out of 10
This movie is not excellent but neither horrible: first of all is not even horror, it's more like comedy, you'll laugh your butt off. The ending is terrible, I didn't even understand it, I hated it! The deaths are very cheap and stupid... I don't even want to get started on Mary Lou, It's not even the same actress who played her on the second movie, Whenever she kills someones she leaves it up for Alex so he can bury them and he always says ''That's it Mary Lou, It's over'' but then little miss tramp resolves it with a kiss and moans which leads up to sex...Alex plays mister cheater and then comes to his girlfriend and cuddles up???It's edited in DVD, why???I have the double feature by Artisan on DVD, because I collect movies and anyone who collects them should have the prom night movies...I really give the movie 5 out of 10, but the ending....ZERO!!!
This wasn't the greatest sequels of the genere, but it has a lot of bright spots through the movie. This Mary Lou was a lot more sultry than the one in the second movie. Mary Lou was vile, but then again, she was a lot clever than usual. I liked the part where she seduced the pawn to her scheme. And I also liked the part when the football turned really deadly. And what do you have to say about that? SCORE!The only downside of the movie is there are a few well known stars in this movie, however, I enjoyed the plot, the storyline and the results of what went on throughout the movie. It could use a little more scare factor, and there's happen to be some comedy as well. It was fair, and slightly better than the second one in my opinion. Rating 2 out of 5 stars. 5 out of 10.
