Fantastic!
The biggest problem with this movie is it’s a little better than you think it might be, which somehow makes it worse. As in, it takes itself a bit too seriously, which makes most of the movie feel kind of dull.
It's not often I write a review, but in the case of this film I felt compelled to do so in the event that some pour soul happens to read it and subsequently saves themselves from the pain of viewing this movie.I picked this film from the shelf of a local video store having not heard of its existence until that moment. Having previously seen films based on the murderous exploits of the likes of Jeffrey Dahmer, John Wayne Gacy, and Richard Ramirez, the "BTK Killer" title caught my eye so I picked it up.As soon as it began, I realized that this film was not what it was advertised to be. This is NOT a film accurately portraying the story of Dennis Rader, the real BTK Killer. This is an extremely low budget movie filmed with what looks to be a Handy-Cam, splicing ridiculous murder scenes with footage from a slaughterhouse that has absolutely nothing to do with what is happening in the film. The BTK Killer did not force feed his victims live rats, or cover their faces in ground beef. The acting, plot, dialogue etc are all amateur and atrocious at best, right down to a strange scene with two news anchors wherein the male continuously hurls sexist remarks at his female co-anchor.There are films out there such as The Room (2003) and Birdemic: Shock and Terror (2010) that people watch and enjoy simply because they're "so bad that they're good." This is not one of those films. It's just mind numbingly awful. Take a pass
I am kind of amazed by how completely non-factual this movie is. It's like claiming your movie is "loosely based" on The Wizard of Oz because there's a scarecrow in it. I mean, after a certain point you just have to admit you made the whole thing up, right? For those of you interested in the BTK case, go elsewhere. This film follows the story of a man named Dennis Rader, who hides his career as a serial killer from those closest to him, but it is wrong in almost every detail--from the number of murders to the victims to the methodology to how he was eventually captured. Most insultingly, it also implies that his wife and daughters knew (or at least strongly suspected) that Dennis was a killer and said nothing until the police confronted them. I hope the real Rader family sued for libel. The film does not even stand on its own as entertainment. It's a poorly made, poorly scripted abomination, through which a handful of fairly decent actors are forced to slough. It is boring, implausible, and ridiculous. I might have forgiven it for being a bad movie if it was accurate, and I might have forgiven it for its lack of accuracy if it was entertaining, but it failed on all counts.
I found this movie at my local Fred Meyers, It was 25 bucks so i was expecting something great, Im really into serial killer films and wanted to add this to my collection. I began watching it. I had to force myself to pay attention to the screen, It was the most awful movie i have ever seen. The acting was horrendous and the plot was jumbled and made no sense.I couldn't take it anymore and shut off the movie. I actually took it back to the store, something i have never done before. Even though they have a strict policy on not returning opened DVDs i forced them to take it back. I told them they should not sell this movie unless they want it returned and they told me that many people have returned it. So do yourself a favor and do not watch rent or buy this piece of crap. You have been warned.
I rather have my nut sack ripped off than watch this again! It was more funny than scary. When he said "You don't give a sh*t about that cow" torturing a random chick and pointing out a severed skinless cow head... I almost laughed my a$$ completely off. Did they get a porn director to make this piece of sh*t? I found this at a gas station for $9 and it's just absolutely horrible.... Nobody should rent this movie... and if they do and enjoy it they have some serious mental problems. I sit through it though, but in no way enjoyed it. I thought it might be like "Ed Gein" but wasn't even close. If you want a good serial killer film go rent "Ed Gein. It's excellent.
