I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.

There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.

Some things up front. First, the much maligned Arch Hall Jr. had a better singing voice then say, Frankie Avalon, and was a better Actor. Second, these types of Ultra-Low-Budget, one could almost say, No-Budget Movies can in no way be compared to anything remotely resembling a typical Hollywood Movie. This one had a $30,000 price tag. We are in the realm of Ed Wood, Herschell Gordon Lewis, and ilk. here. That being said, this is a highly entertaining piece of Schlock that has energy to burn and a demented visual Style that is Filmmaking at its most necessarily inventive. It pulls together many "Artistic" touches that have a distinctive "European" feel. This decidedly Drive-In, Grindhouse Film is a visual pot luck of hand-held Camera-work and Off-Broadway Stage Work. It is a Grandiose effort with unemployable, non Union, hangers around that probably participated for the fun of it, or to at least be doing "something"This is an infamous Movie for mainly two reasons. The aforementioned, strangely "attractive", top-heavy, Arch Hall Jr., whose legacy has endured because of an innocent appeal and a completely weird Personality, and Director Ray Dennis Steckler who persevered for Decades, churning out one mind-boggling Movie after another that were always God-Awful. This one his first, may be his best.

yes, I only rated it a two, but I thought I'd want to rate it negative 5. I had no idea Ray Dennis Steckler had unpretentious competence in him as a director, but he does exhibit just that in this clichéd but not terribly offensive teen drive-in flick. Some okay supporting performances. The music and dancing aren't good, but they're miles beyond the junk on stage in Incredibly Strange...Zombies.I hate to be cruel, but the girl love interest is one of the ugliest women I've seen a love-interest role. In real life, she may have been a beauty and a delightful human being, but the camera didn't like her. I suspect Arch would have done much better in real life.

Yes, film fans, this one has it all and less. I want Arch Hall's hair. He had great hair. His singing could have been OK if he had a great producer like Leiber-Stoller or Phil Spector or Chet Atkins, but the soft ballad, high reverb with a Twist song and Rock and Roll format doesn't work. This movie needs a screamer like Little Richard to make it believable. Arch looks great in my opinion but many think he is not attractive. I think everyone will agree he is very likable. His dad acts OK but perhaps a script would have helped. I liked very much seeing Hollywood Boulevard in several scenes as it was in 1962. Much of that look still exists today. The cars are not as great now. Now, let's start a major debate. What was the worst part of this movie? Was it the background music? The ice skating sequence? The foreground music? The fight scenes? The three guys who wanted to be funny or maybe they were auditioning for the Bowery Boys Tour? This story has to be true. Nobody could make this up. I recommend it as a double feature especially with Arch Hall, JR in The Sadist. He actually could act quite well if he were given something decent to portray.

Tonight's feature: Wild Guitar, starring Arch Hall Jr. and Ms. Vicky.Oh, where to begin? Just say Arch Hall Jr. and you have a good start. He has it all. The pushed in, pug nosed, beady eyed face that only a mother could love. The massive, "wish a mad barber would chop it off" type of hair that he can't stop running his comb through endlessly. Its not hard for Arch to play the dumb hick from sticksville USA. He's a natural. Can anyone do the chicken neck, wide beady-eyed look better than Arch? Can anyone claim to be any more wooden or sing and deliver lines with more obvious raw amateurism? No need to answer. The crowd that went wild at his fortuitous singing debut must have been paid off or they were listening to something off stage that we didn't see. Aside from the absorbing plot points, of which there were many, the highlight of the film has to be the hip three stooges act that abducts Arch for a ransom. I was on my knees begging for relief by the time they finished their negotiations with Arch over how much money to demand. No wait, the real highlight was Arch's touching, molasses slow, romantic ballad to his girlfriend, Vicky. Dogs two blocks away howled for hours after he hit those yodeling off pitch high note croons.Wild guitar? Arch! Pick it up or Ms. Vicky is going to dump you and go back to ice skating.
