It ain't easy bein' green -- especially if you're a likable (albeit smelly) ogre named Shrek. On a mission to retrieve a gorgeous princess from the clutches of a fire-breathing dragon, Shrek teams up with an unlikely compatriot -- a wisecracking donkey.

Nice effects though.
Tells a fascinating and unsettling true story, and does so well, without pretending to have all the answers.
The joyful confection is coated in a sparkly gloss, bright enough to gleam from the darkest, most cynical corners.
Worth seeing just to witness how winsome it is.
"SHREK" (2001) will always be the best movie in the franchise! The story is smack down terrific! This film will always be my #1 favorite in the franchise!
This movie really confronts the problems with society, such as the opioid crisis, domestic abuse, and donkey mistreatment head-on. It was a great way to talk about these issues with my teenage son.
After his swamp is filled with magical creatures, Shrek agrees to rescue Princess Fiona for a villainous lord in order to get his land back. Shrek is a film that although fun it touches on some morel codes and how love is truly blind without that meaning it's a bad thing. The acting was superb especially from Eddie Murphy as the Donkey which you can't do otherwise than just love the damn guy. It's a film with lot's of great animation, a beautiful story about love and friendship, lots of humor but also the good in our hearts that totally nails it. (A+)
A nice little revisit to where it all began, such a clever move, using fairy tale creatures which encourages the franchise to go on and on. Whilst it will remain a timeless classsic, there are some moments that were very popular at that time, like the wrestling that was encorporated into the tale. For the first time ever, I noticed that the scrolls had a blue 'f' on them like Facebook. Not your typical fairy tale!
