Good concept, poorly executed.
It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.
The acting in this movie is really good.
True to its essence, the characters remain on the same line and manage to entertain the viewer, each highlighting their own distinctive qualities or touches.
Do not waste your time watching this!!! Do not waste your time watching this!!!
In the real world, our world at this day and time, when children and young women are found after years of captivity, I found this movie to be very realistic and all of the actors did an amazing job, especially the mother and son. I found this to be a very emotional movie and I found myself holding back tears at times throughout. I would consider this a Must See Movie, although I don't have a desire to watch it again.
Room was a very heartwarming and AMAZING movie. The actors are also a really big part in this! When I saw William H. Macy as the grandfather, it was strange because I've only known him as Frank from the show "Shameless" This movie overall was fantastic and I REALLY recommend it
A few minutes into the film I asked myself "What the hell am I watching" and thought the characters were completely dysfunctional. Then it hit me BAM!! what was going on and it became very, very interesting. Once mother and son were rescued, though, the film became slow moving and a bit depressing, actually, with constant yelling and sadness. The script and acting was superb, I'll admit. Jacob Tremblay in particular was excellent! It was interesting how the Room held good memories for the son, while it was an absolute nightmare for the mother.
