It was OK. I don't see why everyone loves it so much. It wasn't very smart or deep or well-directed.
This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
Moon is absolutely fascinating. Sam Rockwell carries the film practically all by himself. It's a bit slow, but the pacing is an integral part of the movie. It's classic science fiction without all the flashy special effects. This is a well-thought-out, well-written and well-made film.
I went into this movie after having seen Warcraft, so my expectations weren't too high, but as soon as the movie started I knew I was in for something really special. This is the best Sci-Fi movie of all time and my personal all time runner up (it loses to Saving Private Ryan, but that movie is unbeatable). Clint Mansell as always delivers a suspenseful score that makes you wish he worked on more films. Duncan Jones is a wonderful director, but he shined more so in the story he crafted and dialog he created. Last, but not least Sam Rockwell delivers an unrivalled performance all actors should stride for. I would like to end this review by saying that it's best to watch this movie without having seen the trailer, since I believe it gives away too much.
This movie, given its minimalist approach, is surprisingly engaging, smart and good. It is one of the gems of sci fi genre of the new century, and I cannot recommend it enough.
This film is directed by Duncan Jones, who is the son of famed musician Duncan Jones and this is his very first feature film. Now, how good of a film is this? It depends on your threshold of attention. For large spans of time nothing happens. Sam Rockwell is good as the lone astronaut isolated in a facility on the moon, with only a Robot(voiced by Kevin Spacey) for company. Trouble happens when a clone of Sam appears on the scene. Whilst I respect the filmmaker for making such a good looking film on a small budget, the way they go about it is not something I liked. Still definitely worth a watch.
