It's funny watching the elements come together in this complicated scam. On one hand, the set-up isn't quite as complex as it seems, but there's an easy sense of fun in every exchange.

Story: It's very simple but honestly that is fine.

Theseus is a mortal man chosen by Zeus to lead the fight against the ruthless King Hyperion, who is on a rampage across Greece to obtain a weapon that can destroy humanity. Immortals is a 300-type action film and don't expect any historical knowledge to take out of it instead you're getting Henry Cavill being an absolute badass and Mickey Rourke finally being a good villain to a blockbuster (Iron Man 2 anyone?). The effects were pretty good although i would have prefer a bit less of a slow motion at times and over the top blood but still nice. (8/10)

Really, just honestly not my thing. Not sure what I was expecting, but I wasn't let down, or pleasantly surprised, either one.Being a Greek Mythology aficionado, I was hoping for more from this movie and just didn't get it.The only redeeming quality of this movie, for me, was the over-the-top, carnage. That made it worth agonizing through, but that's about all.If you don't mind a slow pace, mediocre (at best) acting and you're not expecting a lot, you might enjoy it.

at the first sigh, one of many cocktails of fake mythology and action movie. fights, revenge, the hero, Henry Cavill in a role who use more his body than his talent, Frieda Pinto as the extraordinary woman, the need of the savior.short, a classic illustration of a genre who use old ingredients for a kind of cultural fast food. but, after Troy or 300, Immortals is not a real surprise. only entertainment, a show of special effects and strange characters with old names. far to be about Theseus, it is only a large show who propose well known scenes, battles and final. a hymn about the force and wise and courage of a man against gods and temptations. impressive images, brave gestures and a lot of popcorn for supply the inaccuracy .

This film gets a lot of comparisons to the likes of "300" and rightly so with the cast they had pulling the strings. Visually the film is strong, the cast is sexy, the CGI is tasteful and adds to the film rather than looking like a cheap add on. Despite the occasional continuity issue you wont be put off. When it comes to content though, that's a different matter. This film is the dumb (but sexy) blonde of films. While the casting was generally good there were a few moments where it seemed the actors where "hamming it up" a little, the big disappointment to the casting for me was Mickey Rourke, not because he isn't epic, purely for the accent and a the lazy style he brought - he could have been in any modern day 'down on your luck' New York based film rather than fighting Gods at the pantheon. In fact the comments on Rourke seem to be mirrored with other characters, I had no feelings for Carvill's Theseus character, and likewise other good characters you are supposed to root for don't draw you in as much as they should do. What you get with this film is a lot more style (appearance) over content - casing point, the mythology is wrong but there are a lot of sexy high definition slow motion shots of people being cut open. If we look more at content; having grown up reading a lot of mythology and Gods I appreciated the random twists in this film from what I am used to from literature (e.g. The Minotaur mask opposed to an actual Minotaur). What I didn't enjoy, and I've noticed other reviewers saying the same, is that the Greek mythology has been butchered a little bit too much in favour of making the film pretty. At this stage though I should stop and remember the mythology is mythology and therefore fiction and not fact, maybe like other reviewers I was a little hung up on what 'should' happen or be shown rather than suspending my disbelief and just watching what was happening. Like eating a fast food order, this film looks pretty and tastes pretty at first, but you know later that it won't be enough to sustain you and ultimately it's leave a hunger and a funny taste in your mouth. For this reason I can't award this film any more than 6 out of 10. My advise is just watch and don't question.
