I love this movie so much
Really Surprised!
A brilliant film that helped define a genre
A clunky actioner with a handful of cool moments.
Family-patriarch Jack Byrnes wants to appoint a successor. Does his son-in-law, the male nurse Greg Focker, have what it takes? Little Fockers continues the success of the first 2 films and the end result is another great film packed with great perfomances, some new faces like Harvey Keitel, Laura Dern, Jessica Alba and Kevin Hart also some great hilarious moments like a fight between De Niro and Stiller, a Jaws Reference and an insane after credits remix with Jack Byrnes. Fans of the original 2 films will love this film, everyone else? should avoid it for better or for worse i guess. (10/10)
Surprisingly good.I found the film (movie) in its first half a chore, with the previous two outings being far better by comparison. But as I watched I warmed to it. Hence this favourable review. And yes, where most film series are concerned, they go downhill. This third film would have been better leavened with more jokes and with longer appearances from Dustin Hoffman and Barbara Streisand. What I surprisingly found is that this film dealt in quite a serious way with the masculine tussle between Ben Stiller's Greg Focker and Robert De Niro's uber-patriarchal Jack Byrnes, whose daughter Greg had married and by whom he now had children. This film was about relationships and dealt with them, as I say, mostly seriously. Perhaps too seriously for the film to remain pure entertainment in contrast to the two previous films. The film would have been all the sweeter a pill with more jokes. That was where it was, for me at least, unbalanced and deservedly generated too few high ratings. Loved the Jaws reference at the end, but there were too few of those scenes.Jessica Alba was gorgeous as the ex-nurse! She can tend to my medical needs any time.
Little Fockers is a prequel to the 2000 film Meet The Parents where Ben Stiller's Gaylord Focker tries to impress his father in law Robert De Niro's family as Niro doesn't like Stiller's charcther much and creates this circle of trust scenario. This time however and Gaylord is now a doting father to two beautiful children and they are trying to go to school. Gaylord has this new job now and his secretary(played by Jessica Alba)is kinda dotting after him and when Jack finds a photo of him having a night out with her he goes demented. I didn't catch the beginning of it last night as I was watching another movie but there was a few funny scenes in it like one where Jack's privates rises up and Gaylord has to stick an injection to help stop his privates from rising up.Overall check it out if you are a fan of Ben Stiller like me and you saw the first two films. Keep an eye out for Singer Barbra Streisand and Dustin Hoffman as they reprise their roles as Stiller's parents.
Greg Focker (Ben Stiller) is more successful, and drug rep Andi Garcia (Jessica Alba) is proving to be a beautiful temptation. Jack (Robert De Niro) is distressed after Dr Bob left Debra and he has a heart attack. Jack decides to anoint Greg as the Godfocker. However, the return of Kevin (Owen Wilson) and the beautiful Andi leads to misunderstandings, doubts, and conflict. This movie suffers from a lack of funny gags. The cat is barely here. The kids don't add much comedy. Jessica Alba is hot, but her character should be a lot more funnier. The movie needs it. The only saving grace is the family relationships. And in this one, I like Greg a lot more. It's like a get together with old friends but the new material isn't working. There is only so much that De Niro can do with his stink eyes.I also don't understand the title. I assumed this was more about the kids. Instead the kids add little more. The better title would be 'The Godfocker'.
