Excellent, Without a doubt!!
As Good As It Gets
It is both painfully honest and laugh-out-loud funny at the same time.
This movie tries so hard to be funny, yet it falls flat every time. Just another example of recycled ideas repackaged with women in an attempt to appeal to a certain audience.
...life. everything. people. hate. sacrifice. many words define this film who is more a feeling but a story. sure, at first sigh, too many. but , after a time, you discover it as a sort of cry. or a mirror reflecting yours frustrations. it is an useful film. and one of interesting frescoes of contemporany society. that is all. a teenager. and his life. decisions. and a gesture as end of circle.nothing more.
This film is an extraordinary performance by Antoine Olivier Pilon, who seems mature well beyond his years. A story of bullying and homophobia in schools - which could be anywhere - this depiction highlights the sense of entrapment felt by teenagers when in crisis. These are magnified by the power of technology and the omnipresence of the harassment, 24/7.I have read the earlier reviews and am astounded - did they watch the same film as I had? This is brilliantly directed, down to the athletics scenes. They were so realistic. I hate the use of "important" when it comes to movies, but for many confronted by bullying - either as victims or perpetrators - there can be few other words to describe this. I was profoundly affected by this piece - it was moody, sensitive, raw and brutal.
As a fan of his (great acting) portrayal of a aggressive troubled kid in Mommy, I was very disappointed in this "not good enough" performance of a homosexual p*ssy because ...As an actor myself. To me he wasn't fully there emotionally consistently IMO. A lot of times I feel he missed the real/believable (acting) a little and/or missed the intensity mark. Part of it is I can relate to being bullied, depressed or frustrated and yell to the top of my lungs out of rage, along many other things, like crying a lot. ... Very few writing/dialogue was bad and awkward or didn't make sense. The bullying in this movie is ... for the most part pretty realistic. Although I could of imagined better directing of that, to my taste. The ending left me with a salty feeling of disappointment as a climax along the overall disappointing acting of the Lead. With a better cast of Tim and slightly better writing or (maybe something extra as well) ... I think it could of possibly be a great movie.
Just saw this movie last night and I had low expectatations. It could have been so much more. They had so much potential to make something great but we are just left out with another poor movie with terrible clichés...During the movie, everything is over the top. No one ever hides someone else in a locker. NO ONE DOES THAT EXCEPT IN THE MOVIES. Also the fact that ALL THE SCHOOL hates homosexuals except this one girl.. I mean come on this isn't 1984 anymore. This movie has a bunch of great themes like peer pressure, homosexuality, bullying, suicide, depression... and so on. They had such a good cast but some the dialogues are so terrible. I wish Xavier Dolan made this movie, it probably would have been so much better.Don't watch this movie. It's bad.. really I could have watched something a lot better.
