Good story, Not enough for a whole film
A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.
The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
BUT YA ARE BLANCHE YA ARE IN THAT CHAIR!!! Wow, just wow is what this film is. Normally horror flicks from the 60's are the cheesiest films you'll ever see, but this is beyond different. This film is extraordinary and works on so many different levels. Bette Davis gives an amazing performance as Jane Hudson, and Joan Crawford gives an amazing performance as well playing Blanche. The music is thrilling and fits so well with the film and it's perfect, especially the musical number Bette Davis does, it is one of the most creepiest scenes you'll ever watch. One of the best, and one of the most disturbing stories ever told in a film period. The jealously, the rivalry between the two sisters is haunting, and sometimes you have to feel sorry for both of them. Especially Blanche. The ending is also very surprising and it just might make you cry (if your a joan crawford and bette davis fan) This film is a must see for any Old Hollywood fans or just to see two great performances. This movie is a ultimate classic.
Wow! "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?" perfectly blends horror and thriller together in this beautiful black and white film. Bette Davis and Joan Crawford are so good at playing their characters; due to their real life hatred of one another, the hatred for the two is also seen on screen which works beautifully with the films plot.Robert Aldrich most known for directing "The Dirty Dozen" (1967), had struck gold with this film first, despite having to endure the constant Feud of Bette and Joan; it certainly couldn't have been easy.Bette Davis-having done her own make-up and wearing one of the wigs Crawford had used on a film before-looked the part perfectly, of an ageing adult with a child's mind. The twist of the film's ending is magnificent, you spend the entire movie feeling sympathetic for Blanche Hudson (Joan Crawford) and hating the evil sister Baby Jane Hudson (Bette Davis). The twist at the films climax turns the tables and leaves you feeling sympathetic for Baby Jane,as you as a viewer realise what happened to Baby Jane.
Greetings from Lithuania."What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?" (1962) was very involving movie. I was intrigued from first 15 min. till the last frame. Story was very interesting, script was involving and very well written. Directing by Robert Aldrich was great - at long running time 2 h 17 min i never lost my interest for this very well paced movie. Acting by two leads was great - loved both performances equally.Overall, "What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?" isn't really a horror movie as its genre description suggest. Yet its an intense drama / thriller as well as great character study movie. Great film overall.
I've FINALLY seen this movie; I've watched tons of "best of movie lists" thru the years and this is always on them!! I had brief knowledge of Crawford/Davis' real world relationship and it's awesome to see it play out on camera. This movie was much darker than I thought it would be, loved every bit of it. I won't give anything away but let me say the acting in this is spot on: Everyone played their characters wonderfully and the twists r rite on!! Considered a classic for good reasons!!!!!!
