During a rainy day, and while their mother is out, Conrad and Sally, and their pet fish, are visited by the mischievous Cat in the Hat. Fun soon turns to mayhem, and the siblings must figure out how to rid themselves of the maniacal Cat.

Simple and well acted, it has tension enough to knot the stomach.
It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.
The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
Let's make it quick, this movie sucks and looks nothing like the book. The movie also has a strange obsession with the color green and purple, making it look like a demented suburban neighborhood. This movie is badly acted, horribly colored, creepy and downright awful!
I don't know why this movie is rated so poorly, I think people need to rewatch this in order to appreciate its simple and subtle humour. As someone who grew up watching this I can tell you it hasn't gotten less funny as I've gotten older
Your kids deserve better entertainment than this god awful live action adaptation of Dr. Seuss' beloved stories. I mean, seriously, added perverse innuendos, use of alcohol, references of profanity, preteen rebellion, women with revealing clothing? I'd rather set my butt down watching the "Super Mario World" cartoon that I formerly hated (with the exception of the "Little Learning" episode) than to watch similar to what people would do on "Mad". I'm so glad Dr. Seuss' widow put her foot down and stop the producers from make anymore live action adaptation of his work (You Go, Girl!). I've heard they're planning a CGI remake of the "Cat in the Hat" story. If that ever comes to pass, I hope this rigged junk was destroyed like the 1967 vault fire.
