I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.
This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.
The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.
A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.
Morris Chestnut and Regina Hall star in this modern day Fatal Attraction-esque movie about a couple unable to have kids who welcome a surrogate into their home. But of course this is Hollywood so nothing goes quite to plan and before you can say damn skippy, the soon to be mom becomes enamoured with the husband.See that wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the fact she's a complete psychotic, but how do you combat such a person when they're carrying your child? We've seen this before, near enough this entire film to be honest but here it's done competently enough.Morris Chestnut tends to always play the same brooding character (And does here) and Regina Hall is someone I cannot take seriously anymore after her zany stint in the Scary Movie franchise! I expect her to break out into some stereotypical satirical crazy expletive filled rant and find myself almost dissapointed that she doesn't.When the Bough Breaks lacks in originality but does have its moments, sadly not enough to raise the bar above distinctly average. The Good:Morris ChestnutHas a couple of interesting momentsThe Bad:Regina HallSeen it all beforeThings I Learnt From This Movie:When a girl hits on you keep it a secret from your wife, what could possibly go wrong?Moral of the story, don't have kids.
I knew this movie was gonna be good when I saw the previews, but it was ten times better than I expected. Enjoyable, well crafted and good overall. Would def watch another like this and would recommend. Had more twists than I expected, but as soon as the movie started I was hooked. I am usually pretty hard to please with movies and like to criticize every little detail but with this one I really have no complaints. Should have gotten more stars and a better rating.I waited a lot longer than I wanted to, to see the movie. I wanted to see it when it was in theaters but never had the chance. I finally got a chance to watch this movie months later. Wished I would have seen it sooner. I put it off so long that I thought I wasn't going to like it anymore but finally watched it and loved it way more than I ever thought I was going to.
When the Bough BreaksThe easiest way for a childless couple to get a baby is to hang around a Walmart washroom.Unfortunately, the parents in this psychological thriller impregnated a surrogate instead.Unsuccessful in their attempts to conceive, John (Morris Chestnut) and Laura (Regina Hall) ultimately decide to fertilize another woman's eggs in order to start their family. While their proxy Anna (Jaz Sinclair) appears to be the perfect choice, she soon develops an unhealthy attraction towards John that finds her driving a duplicitous wedge between the couple that could not only cost them their unborn child, but also their own lives.A glorified Lifetime movie masquerading as a major motion picture, this substandard melodrama even lacks the tautness and titillation needed to be a movie of the week. Low on ingenuity and craziness, this psycho stranger story fails at being bad. Besides, if the surrogate wants you dead won't your baby inherit that bloodlust? Red Lightvidiotreviews.blogspot.ca
Overall, it's not a bad flick. It's designed for people to yell out "Don't go into that room!" and it's fun if you take it in that content.Sexual chocolate, Morris Chessnut is making himself out to be the King of these types of films (Hope he's making good cash off of it as I think I saw his name on the credits as a producer). He's plays a well off business man with a loving wife who have been trying to have a baby, but when they end up going to seek out a young girl to carry the baby for them, they end up picking a wolf in sheep's clothing.I went to see this because I notice they're have been a string of them that were very decent (Mostly thinking of No Good Deed, with Idris Elba and Taraji P. Henson), but this is not as good as the others. It's a very sexy film. Regina Hall and newcomer, Jaz Sinclair were very sexy. Not as sexy as Chestnut of course, who the ladies all came and spent money to see him act like a wooden log. I've seen him act but it's been a long time since he's been nothing more than a sexy supporting actor to get women to buy tickets (Not saying that's a bad thing ladies just saying).Overall, it's straight-to-video crap not worthy of the theaters.
