Pretty Good
Awesome Movie
This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
The film may be flawed, but its message is not.
This movie could have been better. It drags and was slow, but was funny in spurts. It features Diane Keaton's daughter getting married and features mostly on her relationship with other daughter Mandy Moore and Moore's constant failure at romance. Some situations were funny, and the ensemble works well together, but the slow pace ruins it. I sort of liked it.** out of ****
Because I said so (2007) was a pretty big let down. I'm a humongous Diane Keaton, so that's really why I watched this movie late one night on TV, I was hoping it would be a great one like almost all Diane's films. But with this film, it's poor script and dull screenplay was it's ultimate downfall. Diane and Mandy Moore actually had good chemistry, and their acting wasn't bad, but they just had very poor material to work with, it's really not the actor's fault, it's the writers fault. The casting was pretty good and I enjoyed the characters. But even with good actors, a movie like this can still fail due to poor writing. So unfortunately that is the cause of death for because I said so, poor writing :/. 3/10 for Because I said so. It did have sons occasional heart warming moments between Diane and Mandy, so that's why I'm not giving it a 1 or a 2.
So today, this little movie was playing on HBO, and since I have never seen it, I was like: "Huh, let's check this out." I regretted watching this. Not only did the cheesy and awful writing made me gag, but so did the actions of the characters. For an example, Milly.. who thought dating TWO guys at once was acceptable and can never stand up against her mother. But she wasn't the worst, oh nooo. The mother. Is. Psychotic and immature. Whenever she showed up on screen, trying to butt in her daughter's life, I yell: "Goooooo away, you stalker!" The title of this movie should have be named: Psycho mother said so.
I recently stumbled upon this movie. Such a cute romantic comedy. I really enjoyed this light and airy film with well known stars and my personal favorite Harvey Spector currently from Suits. Great seeing him in a lesser known role from back in 2007. Love the storyline and sweet and comforting message on love and relationships. Diane Keaton always shines in every role she stars in, giving that extra edge to the film. It was a surprise to see Mandy Moore but a pleasant one at that. Loved the film so much that I purchased it off of Amazon after seeing it aired on Lifetime a Channel. This is a joyful film that inspires love and sweet romance, the importance of family, and good old fashioned home baking. I will enjoy this movies time and time again.
