The Way
When his son dies while hiking the famed Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route in the Pyrenees, Tom flies to France to claim the remains. Looking for insights into his estranged child’s life, he decides to complete the 500-mile mountain trek to Spain. Tom soon joins up with other travelers and realizes they’re all searching for something.

How sad is this?
It’s sentimental, ridiculously long and only occasionally funny
Actress is magnificent and exudes a hypnotic screen presence in this affecting drama.
After his son dies in an auto-erotic asphyxiation accident on his first day on the fabled Camino de Santiago (the police code for this is "died in a storm" wink, wink), ex-president Martin Sheen goes to France to recover the remains of his ignominiously fallen offspring. Sheen decides that walking the Camino might be a good place to pick up women, so off he goes.Predictable at every step yet I loved the movie for its beautiful depiction of the Spanish countryside and all things Spanish. I'm sure the movie has motivated hundreds of viewers to make the trek. ¡Bravo!
Since first watching this on the BBC a few years ago, when I'd never heard of it, I now watch it whenever it's on.An emotional cracker that makes you want to walk it.
Well, what can i say? This was probably one of the best movies i have watched in the past six months and maybe even more. This is the story of a father whose son died and when he goes to take the body back home, he realizes that he wants and feels the need to complete the journey that his son started.The way the movie is developed is one where you feel like you are in the journey with Tom and the other people, so that you can understand what the characters are feeling and so that you can learn and grow with them. In fact the characters go through a lot of situations that make them change and understand each other better and better while they are in their journey, said so you can understand that there is a great character development going on in the movie.The cinematography, the quotes, the music and the plot seem to be really well thought because as i said before they let you feel like you are in the movie, and if you pay enough attention you will lean a lot as well.This, besides being a great movie, is also a really deep one. You can see that although a father might be cold or mean sometimes, he still loves you and he will do anything for you. If you let it, this movie can really help you understand more about life, in fact if you can watch it with an open heart, you might understand your self a little more and learn that it's never too late to try new things.I would totally recommend this movie to someone who wants to be entertained, see a great character development and at the same time is looking for something deep and a little emotional.
This is the sort of a movie that we really need to see more of. Base on what is really important in life and is what easily attainable anywhere.All you need is effort to do it. How great would it be to share a journey with your dad or family member to experience life in away that we seem to have lost. We are all so caught up in the mundane things of every day life that true life experiences are lost. Funny how it takes a movie like this to bring that longing back.Well done and thank you for that great movie. I will planing my own journey now
