Purely Joyful Movie!

This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.

It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.

There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes

After a viral outbreak in New York, a small band of survivors finds the streets overrun by a ravenous swarm of mutated rat-like beings and tries to escape from their clutches before becoming like them.This is an incredibly underwhelming and really unremarkable effort. Among the numerous flaws here is the fact that this one is just not all that exciting overall, as the first half here is just not all that enjoyable. The fact that the virus comes so late into this one that means it spend a large portion of time with the rather boring family and their friends in the apartment just yakking about their daily lives which is not all that interesting to start this one off. This makes for plenty of tired scenes that really seem to make this one quite bland all throughout the first half as there's just no real horror during these scenes and really takes a toll on getting this one going. Of course, there's little to be done in here for the rather haphazard editing in the action scenes which shake with such frequency it's impossible to tell what's going on. Jumping around and shaking throughout here, this is utterly impossible to really see clearly which really makes for a troubling time during the action segments which are what you want to be able to give a clear look at for viewers when combined with the boredom as well as really helping to overwhelm the few positives within. The attacks by the creatures are a lot of fun as they're effectively made into threats so the diner encounter, the frantic escape in to the sewers and the series of battles on the street make for some exciting times due rot their savageness and ferocity. These are especially useful on display during the massive attack while barricaded in the apartment complex which is all sorts of fun throughout this, getting in some great action along with some suspense and jumps along the way. This also gets in some good points with the special effects for the creatures looking decent enough when we can see them and a couple nice bloody deaths, but overall can't quite overcome the massive, problematic flaws.Rated R: Graphic Violence and Graphic Language.

Good low budget apocalypse horror flick. Been better. Been much worse. All elements satisfy the craving missing perhaps the thriller aspect where no real mystery is unraveled regarding the outbreak. Cut and dried but entertaining. I found "rat people" no more incredulous than zombies. I would make this the "warm up act" to a 2nd movie on a movie night.This long sentence is added to satisfy IMDb's curious need to make sure everyone writes reviews which say more than I want to read - I usually scan the first couple of lines, but if they start with "I saw this at a (name of festival) and was lucky enough to have met (name dropped)..." then I move on to the last paragraph (of 20) if I haven't already skipped to the next review.

This movie came highly recommended by a colleague at work. Hearing someone say that they saw a cool horror movie that they really enjoyed, you cannot help yourself but follow their advice to check it out. Thus, we started watching this movie hoping it would deliver, yet when the closing title appeared, it came with a sense of disappointment. Maybe our high expectations ruined it, or maybe it was all the rat noises thrown in to scare people... Rat noises, either with or without a bit scary rat close up, especially if you keep repeating it over and over and over, become tiresome to hear after a while. Why rats you wonder? Because its a twist from the normal zombie movies, it involves rats as the origin of all the problems. It does not explain why, maybe its because rats are icky and scary, and they kill people and such. The why or how are not important, that's left for you to decide... moving on.The actors do a good job and the the characters are nicely played, you kind of feel for them and for what you know is coming, and its interesting to watch their lives unfold with the warning signs increasing in the background (TV reports, etc).First half of the movie is quite uneventful, and it slowly picks up the pace, with a scare or two thrown in to to keep us going, or awake, depending on what time of the day it is. Until finally, and as usual with a zombie horror flick, chaos breaks loose and it has some good moments and scares. But in the end it raised more questions than it it could or wanted to answer... and I left feeling tired instead of entertained.Don't watch this with any expectations whatsoever...

I'm not gonna spoil it for you guys in case you wanna see it but this movie is not even a low budget movie, its like some kid used his phone camera to shoot the whole movie. The actors are really bad and so is the CGI. The directing is quit poor as well as it tends to jump from one part to another leaving the audience unsure about what is happening while the funny exaggerations of actor's powers are quit overwhelming. an example is that apparently you can smash the brain of the zombies or so called 'RAT people by normal punching. I saw this movie in hopes of having a great Zombie memory but I was very disappointed as there was not storyline just a concept that was repeating it self while the rest of the movie acting, directing, CGI and etc were very poor.I would recommend spending your time on some other movies such as Dawn of the dead 2004 remake or something like that rather than this movie.
