Simply A Masterpiece
Perfect cast and a good story
A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.
Why wasn't this movie promoted? What a treasure Andy Garcia is! Such a talented actor, but you somehow feel that you rally know him or want to know him when you experience one of his movies. This was so enjoyable. It had everything and not too much of anything. I didn't think it was too predictable either. Just when you were afraid something was going to be predictable, it wasn't! I don't want to give any spoilers. Who could not like this movie. It is no way anything less than a 7, but for me a sure 10. Because I would definitely like to see it again or buy the DVD. And the "thing" with the neighbor, that was a brilliant piece of writing. All the actors were excellent in their roles. SO glad Juliana Margulies was cast as the wife. Excellent!!
I really enjoyed this outrageously funny and heartfelt movie! ! It has the story of a very dysfunctional family who all have their secrets to hide. The secrets the family members hide from each other continue to pile up and make this film impossible not to laugh out loud at least once! It's a very awkward comedy in places, a little disturbing sometimes too, but having said that, it's also very moving, and I think it's impossible not to enjoy. The climax has a twisted element which kept me guessing. This is a great example of amazing great casting, and great performances throughout. Andy Garcia is awesome in every way, as always. The wife is believable and the sons are hilarious, but I don't want to give too much away! See this if you like movies with a great story!
I didn't quite know what to expect when I sat down to watch this, but suffice to say I enjoyed it. I knew pretty early into it that things were going to be conflicting and confusing. And while it wasn't that big a deal, it still nagged at the back of my head that 'these people need help.' Luckily the movie answered my question before I could ask it with Tony. Tony was not my favorite character but he was able to confront the family about their issues in a way that was both funny and meaningful. The son and his interactions with his neighbor and classmate were extremely off-putting. I loved the daughter a lot, and her performance was wonderful. The mother was pretty insane and the love affair between her and her (unbeknownst) step-son was more disgusting than important. The father was an incredible actor, and I hope he goes on to bigger roles. I'd recommend this to you if you'd like to see an excellent dysfunctional family film.
Wonderful movie. You laugh easily! But The only thing i wonder is what the purpose of Ezra Miller's character, Vince Jr, was. I mean, the father, the mother and the daughter had their secrets revealed in a very awkward and funny moment. The son's didn't exploded. In my opinion, the director & writer already had his movie without him. That's why i'll not give him a straight A. But 8 out of 10 is already good, isn't it?Anyway, it's a good comedy. I strongly recommend y'all to see it, you sure at hell will not regret.
