Thanks for the memories!
Absolutely brilliant
At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.
The storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.
"Crazy on the Outside" is an unwatchable comedy directed by and starring US comedian Tim Allen.Notable only for a minor role by actress Sigourney Weaver, the film is an awkward mixture of flat jokes, terrible writing and dated directorial choices. Odder still is the way the film's plot and aesthetics clash. Allen thinks he's making a chirpy children's flick, but his content says otherwise (lots of sex toys, heavy soul searching etc). It's an R rated movie that's been squeezed into a PG13 wrapper, a schizoid style which is perhaps due to Allen's uncertainty as to what type of audience he'd like to target and pander to.1/10 - Worth no viewings.
On paper, this movie seem to have be half decent. But nothing clicked for me. I think it suffered due to lack of laughs. There were a few smiles here and there, but things were just too predictable. We know how it was going to end. And the part about the young boy trying to play matchmaker to his mother and an ex-con was idiotic. Also the part about mother accepting it was more idiotic. The kind of faith that she puts in him was just too naive, especially considering that she is a parole officer.Sigourney Weaver's role was also very contrived. They could have taken the whole thing out of the movie without taking anything from the whole plot. The whole movie is mess really. There is no narrative coherence. Parts have been stacked on just to get some laughs. Alas, If only there were laughs. This is an old wine in an old bottle.
When i saw the poster of the movie i thought this is what i want to watch a relaxing And a hilarious movie . but it was so much far of any doubt i had before . the acting is so slow and very emotionally poor I could not even tell if this is movie is a comedy or dramatic .. So i stopped watching it after only 16 minutes i just wasted my money and i cant even waste my precious time on it ..if u like the slow progress story.. a cold and none sense acting watch this ......!!.. i can only admit that the story is Little bit interesting but it got in the wrong hands . the acting and the direction was too bad even the sound affect is not attractive .it made me sleepy .the movie also misses the element of the surprise .. as the story is new and the title is Crazy outside.. i only could see a normal people and behavior . even the scene if kidnapping was not too much ..the music did not help the scene .
Crazy On The Outside has been unfairly bashed a lot of the time by critics and movie-goers alike. I on the other hand found it had a lot of entertainment value in it, and for Tim Allen's first major directing job|As far as I know anyway| he did a pretty stand-up job. I liked a lot of the nutty relationships Tim had with his family, but my favorite had to be with his sister Viki|Weaver|. It was caring, yet chaotic and distrustful. I felt the humor it had served the movie well, and Allen was likable and charismatic enough to carry the movie, though it was kind of disappointing with Ray Liotta's lack of screen-time. For my knowledge this movie was barely released in theaters, and wasn't received very well by any movie fans. I really don't see why not either. Sure you can tell Allen is a little green when it comes to directing, but the message was good, and I thought it had a lot of nice laughs to it as well.Performances. Tim Allen isn't anything outstanding, but he's efficiently funny and carries the movie well enough. I've always liked Tim Allen. Sigourney Weaver is excellent as Vicki the mysterious, lying, yet caring sister. She often stole many of the scenes for my liking. Ray Liotta is effective in his slimy, yet hilarious role. Jeanne Tripplehorn is solid if a little over-emotional for my liking. She had decent chemistry with Allen. J.K. Simmons and Kelsey Grammar are solid in their small roles. Kenton Duty is OK but rather annoying as the kid.Bottom line. As I said, I don't see what there is to hate about this movie. It's likable, amusing and even at times, laugh out loud funny. I give it a solid recommendation, give it a chance.7/10
