Absolutely the worst movie.
It's funny watching the elements come together in this complicated scam. On one hand, the set-up isn't quite as complex as it seems, but there's an easy sense of fun in every exchange.
A story of revenge. At the first sigh. In fact, a story of vulnerabilities. Simple. Convincing. Well made. Having the best cast and the best script. So, thriller. An admirable one. For the old fahion flavor. And for happy Demi Moore -Michael Caine meet.
Demi could act even just a little bit! To be fair, it wasn't totally her fault this time around. I think that her character might have been written by someone in the 1950's who really had no idea what women are/were like. However, her on screen actions would have been better suited to a bit part and not the central female lead of an otherwise wonderful heist movie. My wife says that she figured out where the diamonds went about 15 minutes before I did but in reality I had actually stopped caring about the nature of the heist and was continually shaking my head in disbelief @ the slapstick vocal antics of the dizzy dame in the varying shades of form fitting attire! I could forgive a slip or two from someone in her position due to shock or something but she basically takes out a bullhorn @ every opportunity and shouts major plot points and personal concerns near the people who are supposed to be investigating the crime. Its really unfortunate that a better actress or a better writer for women (or both) couldn't be brought into the project because I think it could almost have lived up to its name then. As is, its still a better watch than a lot of the shiny schlock out there. At least it has the always wonderful Michael Caine!
Demi Moore and a host of British worthies are great in this psychological bank/heist/thriller. I may be the only person in the world who is not so keen on Michael Caine. It seems to me he has been playing essentially the role of Michael Caine for an entire lifetime. He muffles his words, so I missed a lot of his dialog, and found this very unsatisfying, and his personal "charm" was unable to overcome it. The first 45 minutes of the movie drags a bit, but I found myself much more involved in the plot after that. There are interesting plot twists, even though at times I was straining to distinguish exactly who was in among the company of diamond and insurance company executives. Overall, an enjoyable film, if you have a bit of patience.
Michael Radford directs screenwriter Edward Anderson's script about an aging janitor and an American executive who form an unlikely alliance in order to carry out an elaborate jewel heist in this British fictional crime thriller film entitled,Flawless.Set in 1960s-era London, the film stars Michael Caine as the scheming maintenance man who longs to relieve his employers at the London Diamond Corporation of their valuable inventory, and Demi Moore as the savvy executive who is completely perplexed by the wealthy diamond magnates, together with a supporting cast including Joss Ackland,Jonathan Aris,Simon Day,Josef d'Bache-Kane and Lambert Wilson. The story is set in London. Mr. Hobbs, a janitor, is about to retire but does not want to leave empty-handed. He asks Laura Quinn, a disgruntled executive victimized by the glass ceiling, to help him steal from the company for which they both work: the London Diamond Corporation.Despite of the talent of the cast involved, the movie is basically second-rate from the direction, the plotting, the intrusive modernist production design and the screenplay considering its genre as a heist film. It also lacks suspense and tension that the viewer may find itself bored for the end credits roll. The only thing going for it are performances of Michael Caine and Demi Moore, and its and clever and original premise.Overall,it is still fun to view for it does not fail to provide entertainment.
