Simply A Masterpiece
I cannot think of one single thing that I would change about this film. The acting is incomparable, the directing deft, and the writing poignantly brilliant.
It is an exhilarating, distressing, funny and profound film, with one of the more memorable film scores in years,
I have never been so moved by any piece of cinema as I was by the movie "Tiptoes". When the homeless man I stole this DVD off of told me it was an emotional powerhouse that I was ill equipped to handle, I wrote him off as being bitter about the whole incident- but no, I should I have heeded his warning. The acting in this film is transcendent, the cinematography serene, and the dialog comes across so natural and free that I was struck by how similar a reaction Kate Beckinsale had to Matthew McCoughaney's detailing of his little person circle jerk that he had in high school (that reaction naturally being arousal). An erotic and thought provoking thriller that I happily watch with my Grandmother every Wednesday.
i had never heard of this movie till i was watching tosh.0 and he was teasing it and i just had to see if it was real. i can't believe the garbage that they can spew out. what's even worse is that now i have to actually see it for myself then gouge my eyes out and puncture my ear drums in the hopes of getting this monstrosity of a movie out of my brain after i watch it. i can't imagine where people get their ideas from. i guess you don't have to have any kind of incredible talent to make movies. i can't believe gary oldman would be a part of this, he is normally such a talented actor, but i guess it comes down to the dollar amount. why not just use a real little person like peter dinklage. this movie is already offensive to little people and you make it even more so by giving the role to a full size person. my life would have been better had i not heard of this awful movie.
So my girlfriend's mom rented this movie on Netflix. She claimed this movie had a great surprise. Don't worry! I won't give anything away! I assumed that "being a surprise" would somehow relate some aspect of the film to something in my life. This was wasteful and unnecessary thinking on my part. This movie was a 90 minute reel of soap opera acting. Apparently, the surprise to be communicated was the fact that Matthew McConaughey even starred in this film despite his already established success. Please do not watch this film. If so, be sure to arm yourself with the remote to turn it off when it finally hits you; and maybe an i Pod or mp3 just in case (GOD forbid) someone else in your vicinity enjoys this film. No acting, bad casting, no plot (just boring actually) and a horrible horrible film score. Thanks!
Happened upon the movie by chance, but am the kind of person who goes for actors/actresses rather than directors, so when I saw Gary Oldman and Kate Beckinsale, thought I couldn't go wrong, and indeed I didn't!For a while though was wondering where Gary Oldman was, and the thought actually passed my mind that the promoters had actually made a mistake, or that they billed Oldman and that he'd have a cameo later on, just to sell the movie. Was I surprised though when the penny finally dropped!Irrespective of Oldman's part in the film however, the movie gave me tremendous insight into a group of people we all, arguably, don't know much about; sensitivities, problems etc. I strongly recommend it, to be viewed with an open mind.
