Waste of time
best movie i've ever seen.
Although it has its amusing moments, in eneral the plot does not convince.
It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.
Well, let me get straight into the film. A regular story line already familiar to the audience. Son gets murdered, father out for revenge. A typical Seagal flick. The only difference I noted was Seagal got shot once!!! can you believe it????? But yes, he did. Other than that, Seagal just beats up the bad guys, who does not even land one back, and he does not even re-load his gun even once. He fires 10-20 shots back to back.Ya..kinda funny.Typical Seagal fanboys, this one is tailor made for you. For others who are hoping for a good action movie, maybe it's better you skip this one. No twists or turns in the plot. Very predictable. If you've got nothing else to do on a weekend, grab a beer and watch it. And don't hope for too much. Hope it helps.
Steven Seagal is fat. OK. Steven Seagal doesn't care about his fans, he only cares about the money. OK. Steven Seagal is egoistic. OK. I can live with that. But... Steven Seagal REALLY can't act. Like it's something we didn't already know. And acting is a pretty important thing if you're considering yourself an actor. The worst part is that he continues to make movies, terrible movies, and gets away with it, collecting generous paychecks. Only thing that changes is his character's name. The only reason I got this movie 4* is that I was impressed with Jade Yorker's performance and that there were couple of OK fighting scenes, I guess. But man, that kid CAN act, he really show passion and emotions. Why is it so hard for Steven to try and show us some emotions, like he did? Sadness, happiness, compassion etc. He continues to maintain the same facial expression throughout his whole filmography, and that (now that he got old and really obese) irritates me, because I know he can do better, I guess he just doesn't care. He also continues to show his egoism which is pretty visible in the other character's lines. The plot for this movie is pretty bad, you can predict almost from the start. I knew who the main "bad guy" was since I first saw him in the movie, and I don't want to know that right away, I want something surprising. Gangs, shooting, money, corrupt cop(s), one woman, car chasing, fight scenes (obviously speeded up and unreal sometimes, especially the "fist in a gunfight" scene)... and that's about it. We saw that a million times ago in cinematography. It tends to get pretty boring. Also, I really didn't like Eddie Griffin's role as Armand Tucker, I thought it was pretty overacted. For me, if you really want to see a relatively good Seagal movie made in 21st century, watch Pistol Whipped and Exit Wounds, the only good movies in which he starred since the 1996 and Executive Decision (in which he died, ironically), they were much better altogether, and skip this crap, please. Even if you're a fan. I once considered myself a Seagal fan, but with this ego trips he completely lost my respect for him as an actor and as a human being.
That says a lot actually, because I have disliked a lot of them. Urban Justice may have some clichéd characters, a derivative plot, a really lagging pace particularly in the middle, mediocre acting and some jarring dialogue. However, while hardly high art the photography and editing are a step above other Seagal films, same with the soundtrack and sound effects. The action is short but decently choreographed and has a tinge of excitement, the direction is not incompetent as it can be and while Steven Seagal himself is not great he is not as lazy and unintelligible as he can be. All in all, one of his better recent releases, but could've been better. 5/10 Bethany Cox
this brutal action flick, sees steven seagal return to top form in a fantastic throwback to his marked for death and out for justice days, as seagal gets revenge for the murder of his son. seagal kicks some ass here in some of the most brutal fight scenes he's done since his early films and he still looks the part here, the story is simple seagal's son is a cop and one night he is murdered in the hood, and then steven seagal gets revenge and it's a voilent action fest full of what seagal fans love from his films. great budget and some fantstic action set pieces make urban justice the best steven seagal film for years, and trust mee this is 100 percent bad ass seagal back on top form in a must see action revenge flick.
