This is the first film of this country I have ever seen, and boy it was a really interesting one. The acting was very good I will admit, and the concept was quite out there and I like the story to it. However, I just don't really know what else I can be able to say to it before I see more films of this country. I know that this is not really helpful, but I do suggest it and if for nothing else, the insanity of it and the idea of a fly being able to change one persons life forever is a very interesting thing to behold. I think that could be one of the better movies I have seen in 2017, even though this came out in 2012, so I guess I should say this is one of the better films of 2012 I have seen

Though the story was revealed even before the shoot, the screenplay makes it fresh. Special appreciation to all the technicians who have worked hard for the perfection. SS Rajamouli delivers a good film with a small insect EEGA. Though there were many actors who gave their best, its EEGA who steals the show. Cinematography and music are plus points. Art department did a good job. And the costumes, makeup and editing are additional assets. Undoubtedly, this is an experiment not only in Telugu but also in India, but it turns out to be a blockbuster just because of screenplay and EEGA. The production values are rich. Though its a routine revenge story, replacing a human with an insect makes it special and SS Rajamouli and team makes it sure that it entertains every time you watch.

Rating: 3/5 stars (Three-Stars)Star Cast: Sudeep, Nani , Samantha and the protagonist – A House fly!, Ajay Devgan (voiceover)What's Good: Imagination, inventiveness , inspite of its absurdities at times, Director Rajamouli is able to carve a hilarious tale out of a make believe world where logic is intertwined with fantasy, some great computer graphics and visualisation. What's Bad: The name itself maybe, the climax seems a bit extended.Loo Breaks: Few and far between in the first half . Close to none in the second, you would want to grab the scheming 'Makkhi' as it plots the downfall.Watch or Not: Not just for the kids, even the adults might want to have a look at least once at this piece. They just might end up rooting for the 'housefly' !Makkhi, a revenge story of Jani (Nani) who is head over heels in love with Bindu (Samantha), left only to be murdered by play boyish businessman Sudeep (Sudeep) . Jani then is reborn as a housefly on the path to revenge and tries his best to avenge his death. But would he be able to quench his thirst for Sudeep's blood, would he be able to reunite with Bindu, his love? or would he be quashed under one of the devious plans of Sudeep? On the surface, Makkhi looks like just another Southern flick on the piles that we catch every week on the idiot box, one that you might ignore but scratch and look beneath it and you get a refreshing Revenge flick after many years, so what if it's a rebirth tale , so what if the protagonist is just a housefly here ! For the common masses Humse Hai Muqabla , Dashavatram, Nayak and Robot have been perhaps the Southern movies they loved having a dekko at , this might be another one added to the kitty.Makkhi Review: Script Analysis Rebirth, well, it has been a tried and tested formula for ages , ever since we had Karz and Karan Arjun etc. But the revenge and rebirth gets a new angle as we witness it all from a housefly's point of view. So expect the fly to be smacked with a tennis ball, fall and come out of a sherbet, survive in a running drain , eagles flying all over and even shots of bullets and tantric vidya to name a few. Some brilliant thought process and visualisation, reservoirs of creativity unleashed here.Makkhi Review: Star Performances Sudeep as the womanizer, a business tycoon lynching at every gorgeous woman he eyes stands out from the rest. He has been hailed as the King of remakes in down south, using Tamil and Telugu titles to make it big in the Kannada cinema. However, here he has done his bit. As a devious money minded soul, he never thinks twice before enticing women to clinch deals or even killing his partners for profit. The only thing that stops him in his march though is a small, harmless housefly. He plays his part here and stands out from the rest of the cast. Jani doesn't have much of the role assigned to him however he does bring a smile or two in the initial half an hour. Samantha as Bindu is calm and composed in her role. She is in love but is too hesitant to tell him, her scenes with Nani add charm to the story. But the star here is the protagonist Makkhi who has been crafted with some exquisite and fine artistry by animators from around the globe.Makkhi Review: Direction, Music & Technical Aspects Director from south, S. S. Rajamoulli ,who earlier gave us Vikramarkudu and Maryada Ramana (Rowdy Rathore and Son of Sardar, the Hindi remakes) is back with his Telugu flick Eega dubbed into Makkhi . He is able to touch the heart of his audience just by the sheer brilliance with which he captivates the mind of the housefly here. The music best said is just the right mix here for such a movie, the track 'Are Are Are' by KK is a hummable ballad, stays with you. The title song is catchy too, though the entire soundtrack isn't for keeps. The screenplay and the VFX, Animation and computer graphics makes your chest swell up a bit that the film's after all made in India. The movie has about 2234 live Action Animation shots and around 90 minutes of the 137 minutes is animation based.Makkhi Review: The Last Word The movie deserves a 3* from my desk. A blend of Animation , VFX, visualisation and some great screenplay, 'Makkhi' is an art that's worked for Director Rajamoulli yet again. Definitely a must watch for the kids and Animation lovers. Not just for the kids, even the adults might want to have a look at least once at this piece. They just might end up rooting for the 'housefly' !There's even a Makkhi dance with the end credits, expect Salman Khan's towel dance and Ajay Devgan's Son Of Sardaar performance by this cheeky fly as you leave the theatre.

Beginning with few strong words, if you are an Indian and consider the Hindi Cinema the only worthy representative of our Industry in the world over then you are seriously unaware and utterly wrong because you still haven't watched some "mind blowing" and "creatively shattering" stuff being made in the South from decades.Beginning my praises for this Indian masterpiece called EEGA (Makkhi in Hindi), I would personally recommend watching it in its original language as the process of dubbing extracts many things out of a film unintentionally. EEGA can easily be included in the list of films which can be seen in their original language without any hesitation at all, despite of the fact that you will not understand even a single word spoken in the entire film. But in case you are not willing to watch it in Telugu, then essentially watch it now in Hindi as the film will delightfully open some new enlightening doors for all the die-hard movie lovers in India, introducing them to the enjoyable world of cinema being made in the southern part of our country, deserving much more praises than being currently showered upon.Perhaps, releasing the dubbed version of EEGA was a right decision by its makers too since this kind of gigantic movie strictly cannot be re- made again and it will be a purely silly decision if a person even thinks of trying it again in order to give some better results. The film features such innovative & incomparable graphical animations which have never been used before in Indian Cinema, far ahead than the ones featured in some recent Hindi films. Returning to the film itself, honestly it doesn't need a review at all but only deserves a write-up to inform the hungry viewers that if you are really interested in seeing something exceptionally made in our own country then you got to see EEGA/ MAKKHI at the earliest and that's it. However for friends who would still like to know more about it, for them its based on a plot which you will not like to believe easily. But director Rajamouli will make you believe in it through his highly convincing execution in those two outstanding hours and you will feel like having watched something extraordinary as never before. The film pushes the envelope of Cinematic Entertainment in India further and following are my questions in support of this statement in order to make it a more entertaining read. Can you ever think of a hero being reincarnated in the world again in the form of a Eega/Makkhi/Fly to take his revenge? Can you think of an animated fly giving a great performance along with doing comedy and some outstanding action scenes to get its mission complete? Can you ever think of falling in love with a Eega/Makkhi/Fly enacting on screen? Can you ever think, that you will cheer for a Eega/Makkhi/Fly in the theater, getting out of the way of a speeding bullet just like Salman Khan or Akshay Kumar does in their action movies? No, probably you won't even think of witnessing any such acts on the Indian screen, which director S.S. Rajamouli unbelievably brings in for you in his mega venture EEGA. Particularly, if you are a fan of animation films featuring many real life characters too, then do watch it essentially by taking a leave from your office or business. Having said that, its quite possible that for a certain section of viewers it may turn out be highly unbelievable, crossing the limit of imagination and ridiculous. But for friends thinking on that terms, I would like to say that EEGA is a perfect example of how a person can have the blessing of not only thinking out of the box but also possessing the exceptional unbelievable talent to perfectly execute his irrational thinking in an incomparable manner, making it highly entertaining and convincing.Regarding the argument over the inspiration factor here, references can also be drawn from similar subject in FLUKE (1995) and COCKROACH (2010), but still they are not a thriller or a revenge drama with such magnificent special effects as depicted by Rajamouli in his latest flick. Hence EEGA does enjoy its own distinct position among the top films made in this particular genre in the entire globe without any question.Well supported by a pumping background score, its an exciting roller coaster ride with no predictable turns or any usual glitches. Musically it has few catchy songs composed by M.M. Kreem which put the movie on a soft mode as it begins. But once the action gets started, you don't really mind watching anything else and get involved with EEGA instantly. Cinematography along with some brilliantly conceived animation offers you something never seen before on Indian screen till date and this should give you enough indication to watch it as soon as possible. Its not an easy task to act in a film which mainly depends upon an animated character, found no-where around when the scenes are being shot (as they are all added at a later stage). Hence the entire cast surely deserves a special mention here for acting naturally just imagining the proceedings as per the instructions given by their visionary director. And for that I would really like to applaud the visible efforts made by Sudeep, who never makes you feel that he is actually reacting to literally nothing. To put it more bluntly, EEGA is an Indian film which will even make the Western producer-directors sit back, take notice and ask that, Who's this person in India making such kind of films so beautifully? So Kudos to the creative director SSR and hats off to both his imagination and execution which arguably is beyond comparison with any other director at present in the entire Indian Film Industry.
