Powerful
Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.
Watching it is like watching the spectacle of a class clown at their best: you laugh at their jokes, instigate their defiance, and "ooooh" when they get in trouble.
Actress is magnificent and exudes a hypnotic screen presence in this affecting drama.
I am not a fan of Steve Coogan, but I found myself actually laughing at some of the scenes in the film. And they weren't even very comedic. The chemistry between him and Rob Brydon is obvious, which is probably why they did two other similar films. BTW, I am also going to watch those, so clearly I liked them.If you are a fan of British self deprecating humor, honest and a bit insulting, then you are going to like the film. The fact that Coogan is probably confronting some of his personal issues as well (both leads are playing themselves), is even more impressive.Give it a try. My wife liked it, the landscapes are great, there is some fancy food prepared and shown, even if the film itself is hardly about food. Think of it as a buddy trip film, with funny moments that feel very real.
I am so in love with this film. It is along the lines of a "My Dinner with Andre", so watchable, so funny, so warm, I just love it.I really like road trip films, and these two buddies are so fun to watch. The first time I saw it , I was so sad to see it end.Steve Coogan plays (himself?) a successful actor and his sidekick is his second-choice companion on an English road trip full of meals, flirting, historic landmarks, and quirky small village accommodations.Hilarity ensues with much singing of Abba songs, impersonations of Sir Anthony Hopkins, and more.Give it a go... I think you'll like it!
We were planning to go and see the latest Trip to Italy movie and decided to rent The Trip to get a taste for the humour. What a totally boring piece of self-indulgence. Rob Bryden might be well known for his impressions, but with multiple impersonations of Michael Caine, Sean Connery as James Bond and Woody Allen leaves you feeling like he has a repertoire of 3. The rest of the movie was mildly interesting in terms of the food preparation in the kitchens and nice scenery, but it was obviously populated with actors while pretending to be a real life foodie road trip. Needless to say, we're not bothering to go and see the Trip to Italy.
Two guys go to a gastronomy trip: that's the main plot of "The Trip". It's hard to believe that such a simple story would be any entertaining or engaging, but in fact, it is for most of the time. Steve and Rob have strong personalities, and sometimes I asked myself if they were really friends. You know, sometimes you don't think they like each other, since there are some unnecessary arguments during the meals. This movie will surely be appreciated by those who care about acting, music, entertainment, culture, and other aspects of urban's life. For the first time in my life, Brazilian's translated title expressed much of the film's content; they translated into something like "An Eccentric Trip", and that's pretty much what the film is about. Two guys that go for a different kind of trip-- how many gastronomy trips have you heard about?-- with an unpredictable plot and some few funny scenes, thanks to the good acting involving both main actors. Good movie, but has nothing remarkable to make you feel like watching it again. An adult piece of entertainment with contend and a beautiful photography are what sum this movie up.
