Highly Overrated But Still Good
The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one
Story: It's very simple but honestly that is fine.
One of the film's great tricks is that, for a time, you think it will go down a rabbit hole of unrealistic glorification.
I always wondered why the names Santa & Satan contained the same letters. And now I know! Santa was actually the spawn of Satan. Brilliant! This pretty much sets the tone for this Xmas movie. It's a good combination of comedy and horror, with the former being the more dominant. WWE star Bill Goulding is superb as the evil Satan. High bodycount but not a great deal of gore, though there a are few really neat kills, especially the one where two spoilt boys open their "muthafuckin presents" to literally have their heads blown off! Nice scene in a titty bar for us guys too! Well worth checking out.
The movie isn't boring, that's for sure. Full of over-the-top action and cheesy evil laugh, Santa's Slay tells a tale of murderous Santa Claus demon (played by wrestler star Bill Goldberg) who was locked underground for a thousand years because he lost a curling match to an angel, but now he's back and he will skewer the Jewish, scorch the strippers, bomb the Christmas carolers and slaughter those who bicker at Christmas dinner.I like some B-movies but mostly horror B-movies and this was aiming for 'funny', not 'scary', so it flew a bit off the mark for me. The special effects were laughable, as was the plot and the acting, so I sure got a lot of laughs out of the movie, but it doesn't really offer rewatchability. Plus, I'm not a wrestling fan.I can appreciate why the movie has its fans but I expect that even the most loyal fan will concede that it's a movie that's not for everybody.
This 2005 horror comedy stars Bill Goldberg, Douglas Smith, Emilie de Ravin and Robert Culp. Goldberg (WWE) headlines as a buff, evil version of Santa Claus who terrorizes small town, Hell Township on Christmas after a 1000 years. It's up to teen, Nicholas (Smith), his crackpot grandfather (Culp) and Mary (de Ravin), Nicholas' girlfriend to stop him. Dave Thomas (Rat Race), James Caan (Elf), Saul Rubinek (Unforgiven) and Fran Drescher (The Nanny) also make brief appearances. This is an amusing b-movie that pays tribute and pokes fun of holiday horror/slasher flicks. Goldberg's creepy and humorous performance makes the film worthwhile.
I unabashedly love this film. It is the best kind of awful. The kind that is done with such love of cheese and camp that you can't help but think that everything is exactly as it should be.It has become a holiday tradition with with my fiancée and I. It's so outlandish and over the top that it helps us forget the stress of the holidays and just sit back and laugh. If you want a good Christmas movie. This isn't for you.If you want a good horror movie. This is also not for you.If you want something to make you laugh at absurdity during the holidays and love cheese and camp... this is definitely for you.
