Great example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.

Uncle Sam: Directed by William Lustig and written by Larry CohenOh man I have been waiting for ages to see this movie. I'm a big fan of the great Larry Cohen and the last time these two teamed up was the Maniac Cop series. I love the Maniac Cop films. They are fun, creepy, gory and crazy pants along with beautiful filmmaking all at the same time. I wanted this movie to be the same. I know, I know. I preach the expectations gospel and I turned around and succumbed to it myself. I wanted this movie to be like Maniac Cop. It does briefly. It has some of the kills that reflect the theme of the uber American. He uses the flag, the uniform and the traditions of 4th of July to his sick advantage over flag burners, crappy politicians and various other un American types. This sadly is but a brief moment in the film's story and runtime. I really wanted to like this movie. We needed a cheesy fun horror film for the holiday but I can't in good conscience go with this one. Some of the characters show up randomly half way through the movie. I'm scratching my head and wondering what for. Isaac Hayes is delivering a performance way outside of what this movie requires. He brings so much more to it than he might be expected to. He helps make this movie than it's incredibly, awesome poster. I stayed for Chef and he carried the movie even through the BS.This is an easy watch. It meanders a bit in the beginning to get the story going. It doesn't need to. It could launched right into the crazy American stereotypes killing but it doesn't. It tries to give characters to it's victims but it doesn't work. They are the lambs, let's just lead them to the slaughter already!?!I give this movie a C. It had good elements and bad. I can't recommend it but I didn't hate it.

He also has a great GI Joe collection which has stayed in great shape for 12 years or so, a testament to teenagers. My thought — he is actually playing with Sam's old war toys as he dreams of joining him in the army one day. Sam's commanding office, Sergeant Twining even gives him Sam's old medals.During the funeral, Jody meets Sergeant Jed Crowley (Isaac Hayes, the singer of the Shaft theme, Chef from South Park and now dead Scientologist), who informs him that war is bad and that he should have never given Sam the idea to join the Army. Jody makes a big scene at the funeral and gets grounded from the fireworks the next day. Guess what? Fireworks suck. They've been the exact same since I was a child and fireworks technology has not advanced in forty years. You are missing nothing, Jody. "Uncle Sam" is a horror comedy from William Lustig, director of "Maniac", "Vigilante" and the "Maniac Cop" films. Sadly, it's not up to the standards of his best work but it does provide light entertainment for its 90 minutes' duration.Horror and film fans may spot a few familiar faces in "Uncle Sam" such as Isaac Hayes, Timothy Bottoms, P.J. ("Halloween") Soles and Robert Forster. Despite the wealth of talent involved in the movie, the results are uneven and cheesy. However, Lustig instills in the film a certain charm and, as a result, it isn't a total disaster.Although predictable, this is a movie that is worth viewing if you're in the mood for something light and fun.Fulci fans won't miss a nod to one of the master's classic movies somewhere in "Uncle Sam"! A thought-free 6 out of 10.

what a piece of sh!t! what a*shole would actually spend money to make such garbage.But i must say the pathetic cheesiness of this film made me laugh so hard that my sides hurt, so maybe it was 2 dollars well spent. Especially the part where he gets shot with the cannon and you can actually see the rope pulling a dummy across the set, priceless, Id highly recommend this very shitty movie to anyone thats looking for a good laugh:D PS, anyone who was actually frightened by the storyline of this movie deserves to die, I mean c'Mon he was killed in Granada, wasn't that war like 12 hours long? what kind of a pussy dies a war that lasts for 12 hours?
