i must have seen a different film!!
Good movie, but best of all time? Hardly . . .
The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful
The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
I can not take away the feeling of heaviness that this film provoke on me. So intense was it. however, it shows a painful truth. A terrible destiny for innocent souls. not suitable for weak of heart
I didn't know anything about this film. I came to him by casuality: a couple of months ago I had to get away from my dog for a while (first time in 10 years) and so I came across this film, there I saw that the main voice was John Hurt (Snitter) and called even more my attention. "Play" and... what a first scene, I was shocked! I confess I didn't know if I was in the mood to continue... obviously I did.Violence, animal abuse, cruelty, indifference, the simple way of human race to solve things in their own way, and the defenseless surviving "us".With a soundtrack that always sounds sad, melancholy; lights, shadows, contrasts, this fantastic animation has such a detailed art that perfectly those dogs could be barking instead of talking and we were going to continue understanding all the dialogues as if all of that was happening in real life. A story marked by traumas, but fought by loyalty and overcoming. This film immediately jumped to my top 10 of animations movies.
I first saw this movie when I was 12 years old. It has lingered on in my mind from time to time and I just saw it again today (I'm 26 now).Needless to say, I was way too young when I first saw it, but my parents probably didn't read the description and thought it was just another animation. The movie is depressing, gut wrenching, and far too deep for children. Thankfully, it didn't scar me despite the graphic imagery.I don't want to say too much about the plot or anything, but everyone should definitely give this film a fair shot (if you can take depressing movies). It is one of the most touching movies I have ever seen and despite its age it has that nice nostalgic feel that only hand-drawn animation achieves. The only thing keeping me from giving this a perfect 10 is the sound which hasn't aged as well.I consider it a unique piece of art that's essential viewing for every fan of cinema.
This movie had been recommended to me because I had watched "Watership Down" years ago, and I found it very interesting and unlike any other animated movie. I was told that "The Plague Dogs" was similar in make, so I thought I would give it a try. This gave me the same eerie feel, but it kept me on my toes, almost like a suspense film. I have never seen a film so accurately display dog's behaviors AND personify them... Instead of just talking dogs, I felt as if I was just given a translation of what they would have really been saying if they COULD talk. This made the movie feel so real to me, I connected with the characters and this movie was simply a pleasure to look at. The realistic environments, the glistening coats of the dogs, even the water trickling down the stream was a relief from most modern animation.I am not one to cry when I watch movies. This movie made me sob and sob, in the beginning I cried, and in the end I cried. Like I said in my summary: it's definitely tough for dog lovers to watch!!! I would highly recommend this movie, however it is not for kids 16 and under. If you think you'd like to watch it with your family, the parental guidance on this site is incredibly helpful for this, and for any movie on here. 10/10 in my opinion!! What a great movie!!
