This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.

Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.

If they made this movie in three days it is excellent-if they made it in three months its maybe not so great. It gets annoying as the film nears the halfway point as they keep fighting verbally amongst themselves regarding what the next course of action should be. You eventually feel like yelling at the screen due to all the waffling around on screen. Fair premise if not a bit implausible in this day and age. Fair acting and all the rest of it but it really does boil down to how long they took doing it. It sort of looks like a student film more than a professional film despite the fact it starts in an airliner. Most of the passengers appear to be female. The script could have been a bit better and they could have waffled around less. Waffling is annoying. Don't waffle. Even if waffling might seem like a good idea at the time. It probably isn't. Waffling that is. As in don't waffle. Even if you think they might taste good with syrup. Eat waffles. Don't waffle. Is this waffling? It might be a form of waffling. Then again it might not. That's what the film is like.

First the first person video shooting sucked. I hated it. The acting was very bad. The dialog was even worse. Why would anyone make a movie this bad? Maybe they got paid no matter what. The crash scene was chaotic which is as it should be but if the little girl was injured who was filming that crap? Then there is the premise of Area 407-predators from hell that no one knows about. Give me a break, it would get out unless it was so isolated and guarded and there would still at least be rumors about it, if not an actual approximate location known by any locals that lived around the area. Did I mention I really, really hated the way it was filmed. What a moron that decided that.

...in the inherent weakness of the "found footage" genre, "Area 407" further hobbles its cinematic foot by apparently ad-libbing all the dialog (bad idea with such a bare-bones story) and shooting the entire mess in five days (Ed Wood and Roger Corman would, I suppose, be very proud). The results are, to be kind, slipshod. Whiny teenager and older sister flying home to L.A., plane crashes (morphing into an obviously different aircraft, but never mind that), then something begins attacking the survivors (and it's pretty obvious, pretty early, that it's some sort of raptor). Eventually everyone dies, the end. Way too much repetitive screaming, whining, walking, and damn little in the way of interesting characters, dialog (improv is NOT film-friendly), or camera-work. Found-footage films occasionally work; "Area 407" isn't one of them. Back to the drawing board, kids. Avoid unless you have ninety minutes to kill and are fresh out of drying paint. This baby might have been amusing as a half-hour "Tales from the Darkside," but otherwise has absolutely nothing to offer.

Let me start off by saying Abigail Schrader has the voice of a whining, dieing cat. From the beginning scene all i could think of was how annoying she was. However, i gave the movie a chance. It started off as a "suspenceful" plane crash, where the plane somehow changes appearance after the crash. Next is about and hour of shaking cameras, annoying dialog, and half blur images of what appears to be a raptor. Later when everyone is falling prey to these dino's they find some eggs.. "WHOA! plot twist!!", actually no. its one of a whole group of random scenes that do nothing for the movie. All in all it was a waste of my time to watch, but i bared through it, and wish i would have stopped half through it, because the end is ruined by a $50 t-rex image, that is too small of scale to even seem "real".
