Plenty to Like, Plenty to Dislike
In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.
A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.
This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.
This whole film is barely watchable. It stinks of feminist propaganda, and takes every opportunity to make men in general look bad. It lacks the mystery, imagination and tension that you'd expect from a horror film. Instead, it has more of the feel of a drama film. It looks quite cartoonish, and only kids would probably enjoy this, simply because they wont see all the pc and all the propaganda. Any adult with enough selfrespect not to want a ton of feminist propaganda shoved down their throat will find this unwatchable. The werewolf is highly unrealistic and looks more like a character from a computer game, down to the way it attacks, with fists like some kind of martial arts fighter. I would recommend the howling series of films rather than this work of vomit-inducing political correctness and feel-good cute-dog-is-the-hero garbage.
I first accidentally saw this movie when I was 9 and I liked this movie ever since. It has the best werewolf design I've ever seen and the main character in this film is a German Shepherd (my favorite dog breed). It might not be the scariest werewolf flick out there, but it is enjoyable. If u want to see a film where a large, smart and powerful dog fights a paranormal shape-shifting creature like the werewolf, then this is the film for you of If u want just wanted to watch a horror film that won't make you sick or scare the absolute crap out of you then I highly recommend this.
The opening is OK with Michael Paré's team being attacked by a werewolf. And then Michael Paré heads home to see his sister and her son, and their dog and the movie more or less stops at that point. It gets long and boring with nothing happening for a really long time. Mariel Hemingway is Michael Paré's sister, and she is super single with no prospects, and there isn't anyone else in the movie so there is not even the chance of a sex scene to get us through the boring part. And then when the action eventually picks up, the movie quickly becomes Lassie vs The Werewolf. And who would pay to see that. Some how this movie actually screened in theaters.
Bad Moon is a sorely underrated werewolf film that is like hidden treasure for werewolf and horror movie enthusiasts.I watched Bad Moon a few years back and did not expect it to become one of my favorite werewolf films - but it did. Maybe it helped because I like both Michael Paré (Eddie and the Cruisers) and Mariel Hemingway (Star 80) but maybe anyone could have acted out the parts and I would have still enjoyed Bad Moon anyway. If you are looking for modern-day, high dollar movie with tons of CGI effects - then this movie may not be for you. Bad Moon uses "old school" special effects that I still love to this very day. This is one of those movies I would enjoy watching again on a dark, rainy night with popcorn in hand.9.5/10
