I went into this expecting a typical torture porn fare and nothing more - but WOW, this film just played with me and sent me places i had no idea i wanted to go - and i loved it for it!The premise was fairly common - couple gets abducted by crazy guy and ends up in his torture lair. Been there, seen that, now just gimme some believable effects and we'll all be done here.But this film, if you can go along with it, shows some surprising details and unique twists and by the closing scenes has you feeling amazingly connected to the whole journey. Its not just a nutjob seeking a blood bath, there's something else going on here, lurking deep below the surface. There's an emotional component which mixes up everything and leaves you in deep thought about exactly what the killer sought from his little exercise.Give this film a chance. Go along with its more unique moments and try to keep up with what the film-maker wanted. You'll either love it or hate it, but if torture porn with a little more depth is what you're after - Grotesque is just the ticket!

Well I watched this movie the same way I cook my chicken No matters how you cook it it will taste the same. So I thought to give a change to this chicken. Is very rare to watch a movie nowadays and say, wow We deal with Hollywood big money as we deal with Juntin In music. Everything is fake and bad and people makes you Think is the only one truth. Well this is a movie that goes to your nerves, Is not the gore of this movie that caught my attention If was the cruelty and the love in extreme situations. When you are completely lost what you decide or when the Pain brakes you. Was like an eternal lover looking for Real love. But the last scene ...lost. So we come back it was jusf not to find somebody as he said in the Beginning of the movie. Just a psichopath with a movie. Or at least the end of the movie can give you more. Little more. Well done, very well directed. Good fx for the age . the only sifference with other serial killers movies is with this one you will not laugh. For me recommended +18

I had to put a review out there for this movie. I read the reviews before I watched this and they are VERY MISLEADING. I had expected a pure torture/porn movie with no story, so I have to say I was PLEASANTLY SURPRISED WITH THIS MOVIE AND HOW GOOD THE STORY WAS. I almost didn't even watch it because I don't like boring torture movies, so I left this one for a while thinking it was pure gore. Nothing could be further from the truth. This is the most thought provoking gore movie you will ever see.Maybe people just didn't get this movie, as there are too many FALSE reviews on this movie, most likely from people who obviously did not watch the entire movie. This movie is not for the average person. You must have an open mind and be interested in Psychology to really enjoy this movie. This movie has a VERY GOOD STORY to it, and definitely has a plot as well. I don't want to spoil anything, but there is a lot more going on in this movie than just torture. This movie is a straight up psychological MASTERPIECE. The main character, is a very interesting one indeed. You will be drawn in from the start, and want to finish this one until the end to see what happens! The ending also has a shocking twist to it.This movie is NOT all about gore and violence, like other people so falsely claimed. Yes there is lots of it, far more than movies like "A Serbian Film" so if you cannot handle that, then go watch SESAME STREET or MY LITTLE PONY instead. Grotesque is a very interesting and thought provoking movie throughout. The gore scenes are also very well made. They don't look fake and there is some very mean stuff going on in this movie. This movie could be considered straight from the devil, and my warning is to those who scar easily should NOT watch this. The main character in this movie is among the most sick and evil characters I've ever had the pleasure of viewing in a film. The acting is very good as well. There is LOTS of Dialogue in this film believe it or not, even though at some points the characters are bound and gagged. I just can't believe the bad reviews this movie got, and then CRAP movies like AFTERMATH get all good reviews. Aftermath had absolutely NO story what so ever and was totally boring and could not even hope to compare to this one in terms of gore, which is supposedly what Aftermath's strength was. Grotesque delivers where all the others fail...If you like extreme, sick and evil psychological thrilling movies, then this is a MUST SEE.

Overall, I enjoyed this movie. However, there are a couple things that bugged me as the film progressed. The one thing that bugged me the most were the sound effects. They do not compliment the special effects AT ALL, which is very sad because the special effects were outstanding. The special effects were actually one of the high points of this film for me. Anyway, the sound effects are just very generic squishing and splashing sound effects that you could download off of a stock sound website. As I stated previously, they do not compliment the great special effects at all. There really isn't much of a plot here, but what is here, is strong. We have a sexually depraved doctor implementing excruciatingly painful forms of torture on a couple. Like I said, not much of a plot, but it works because the movie doesn't attempt to flesh itself out. It's rather short.The ending is something I honestly did not see coming and it pleasantly surprised me. I will not spoil what it is of course, but I have to say that it makes you feel happy and giddy despite seeing all of the other sick events that occurred in the film.In conclusion, I can recommend this film, but only under certain conditions. First off, you have to be able to stomach seeing some sick things, although I'm pretty sure that most people reading this review can. Second, you will have to be able to ignore the cringe-worthy awful sound effects in the movie. And Finally, you have to be open minded.That's really all I have to say. Good movie, but it could have been improved SO MUCH by just rectifying so little.
