The Worst Film Ever
Memorable, crazy movie
This movie was so-so. It had it's moments, but wasn't the greatest.
The best films of this genre always show a path and provide a takeaway for being a better person.
Fast Cars and Fast Chicks just about sums up this movie. They've gathered some of the best looking cars and chicks in this movie, and created a movie around them. A fast chic (literally) Natashia (Nadia Bjorlin) gets recruited as a driver to an exotic car race that is sponsored by drug trafficking gangs due to her exceptional skill as a car driver. There's big money involved in this race. She's offered $150k and a recording contract to drive a car. She ups the anti to $300k, and the deal is on. This movie is all about eye candy. It's a beautiful movie to look at, but don't expect much class. It's about gangs, and life in the fast lane.If you like exotic cars, and beautiful women, this movie is for you, but don't do the things they do at home.
Of course you shouldn't expect Meryl Streep and Al Pacino acting performances here...IT'S A MOVIE ABOUT CARS AND RACING! I, unlike everyone else here, really liked this movie. The ballers were big...betting $1 Million dollars that a man could travel from LA to Vegas in an hour and a half (by Mercedes McClaren and night vision...brilliant!)...to a $100 Million dollar mega race. It was very fun and had a good pace and an accidental storyline that sufficed. The standout character was Angus Macfadyen(Michael), who created a totally believable, scumbag, money launderer (who happened to also be a whacked- out vegan/existentialist megalomaniac bond villain)...and so convincingly did this within the plastic framework of this, OK, "bubble- gum" movie. But what's wrong with bubble gum? Again, this isn't 'Sophie's Choice' or 'Godfather II'. Another movie I LOVED in this genre was Fast And Furious Tokyo Drift. Again, not the greatest movie of all time, but it captures a youthful mood and fun excitement...as this movie does. And, again, who doesn't love some of the best cars in the world being DRIVEN!!! I'd buy the DVD and wouldn't have been dissatisfied paying to see it in a theater.
There are plenty of reviews of the film that will give you a fair feel for the plot and acting. I was only interested in the cars. There are some great cars from 2002-2007, the camera-work on the cars is satisfying inside and on interior action shots while the sound, although occasionally suspicious, sounds pretty similar to the proper car. The cars are stock, with little of the Fast and Furious arcadey remixing. It's not a documentary but if you're a petrolhead, excuse the 5th grader plot and enjoy the motoring porn, it hasn't been this good for a while.
What do you get when you combine horrible acting, a stupid plot, and atrocious camera work? The movie "REDLINE".This film was so bad it was painful to watch. The only reason I gave it a "1" was because the numbers didn't go any lower. The lead actress is hot, which is nice, but casting needs to learn to hire hot actresses that can ACT. Ditto for the rest of the cast. And the script? Puhleese! Could it have been any more stupid? You've got gorgeous fast cars, a hot actress, so I guess they decided a script wasn't important. The irony is, with a little bit of work on the plot line and the dialogue, this could have been decent. OK, a LOT of work. Still, if you're going to spend millions on a movie, how about spending a few dollars on the script? The camera work was a joke. Clearly the cars are NOT going fast, and the angles did not create suspension or excitement. The "jiggly camera" and fast cut editing can save some parts of a film, but not ALL of it! This is what happens when rich people decide to make a movie using their own cars and girlfriends, and they ignore the advice of seasoned film makers.Either that or everyone who contributed on this project in a creative fashion needs to go back to film school.Don't waste your time. You'll finish the movie and regret that you'll never get those 90 minutes of your life back. That time could be better spent doing something else... like sleeping, or going to the bathroom.
