Crawl or Die
Earth as we know it is gone. A virus has destroyed the planet and rendered all its women infertile, all but one. An elite team of soldiers are tasked with bringing the woman to safety on the newly habitable Earth Two. But when they are forced underground they find themselves fighting for survival from an bloodthirsty creature in a maze of ever shrinking tunnels. As the team's ranks start to dwindle, the tunnels shrink and the ammunition run out, the crawl for survival becomes more and more desperate.

Lack of good storyline.
I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.
One of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.
Crawl or die....I'm sure 99% of us would choose to crawl, until you watch this film. After coming across a few posts on Twitter about this film I hadn't seen, people seem to be praising it. So I have to check this out, I'm changed forever and so glad I did. Oklahoma ward the independent film Co. Producing this gem is incredibly lucky to have found, yes, Nicole Alonso. As an up and coming actress trust me I know, this business is not easy, there's no one out there handing you roles or money to get a story or script you have produced. I title this as is, because it is independent film making at its best. They had a story, a good production team with the idea of what the set needs to be. This film takes you on a roller coaster ride of fear you didn't know you had. A spec-ops team trying to deliver a young woman encounter an alien and are forced underground. After losing her team very quickly she realizes there's only two choices, Crawl or die, literally. When faced with adversity some of us get that extra pump of adrenaline, the fight within us, if I had to do what Tank did, yep, it's over. She encounters one tunnel after another, then when you don't think it can get worse, yes it does, a small tunnel with no air and filled with dirt. Then when you think oh god she has to be getting close to an exit, nope. It gets even worse. Claustrophobia you didn't know you had sets in. Absolutely amazing performance by Nicole, great film making on a budget. I will ignore those who are giving negative reviews, you simply don't know what it takes to make a film. This one took an idea, a team, and an actress and accomplished they're goal. Nicely done!
Just how on earth is this receiving the high marks on IMDb? I can only imagine it's friends and family of the film maker and cast that are writing them because the reviews do not reflect the quality of this film. It's a badly scripted and badly realised mish mash of influences such as Alien, Aliens and The Descent but without any of the things that made those memorable such as a cohesive plot or character development. The characters are so one dimensional as to be non existent and are mostly confined to a couple of sentences along with a grunt or two. The main protagonist is a poor copy of Tank Girl and seems to think that simply curling your lip is an accurate portrayal of being tough. The plot has very big holes and inconsistencies which I don't believe were deliberate but rather that the writer couldn't be bothered to actually be doing with such things and believe that the action would carry it along. That may have been true if the pacing didn't veer from confused to drawn out. This wouldn't work even as a poorly executed video game. The one thing it does do fairly reasonably is a claustrophobic cinematography but this is a one trick pony and wears thin very quickly. If this had been edited down to a 20 minute short it may have had its merits but at its current length this film shows its inadquecies in a woeful manner for all to see. They say imitation is the highest form of flattery but in this case I really would change that to insult. I don't mind no budget films and love experimental, challenging, indie and art house films but this fails on every level leaving the viewer robbed of the time watching this that could have been used more constructively - for example watching paint dry.
The future... A team of soldiers try to make their way out of a maze of underground tunnels while being hunted down by a deadly creature. A relentless and grim indiefilm, reminiscent of The Decent, in terms of tight spaces, part homage to Alien with it's creature design. It's a dark film with tight metal shafts, torch lit, choking soil filled tunnels as Tank and company try to find there way out.Lead Nicole Alonso's performance as Tank and costume peaks interest, Torey Byrne and David Paul Baker are notable. The practical creature design deserve a mention being well hidden until the closing act. Given the nature of the film the dialogue is sparse and the sound design is effective. Director Oklahoma Ward's Crawl or Die (a.k,a Alien Crawl) is a slow burning low budget feature that will certainly disturb claustrophobics. It does a lot with its limited budget.Worth checking out if you like the likes of The Dark Lurking (2010),Hunter Prey (2009), Cargo (2009), Crawlspace (2012).
Finally - a horror movie I couldn't watch. At 50 mins my claustrophobia kicked in and I skipped through the worm-tunnel sequence. Once arm movement is restricted or there's a coffin-lid feel I can't watch, can't listen. I had the same reaction watching As Above So Below, but that was just for a minute, whereas this sequence goes on for 28 mins. You're killing me! So I never found out what happened to the package. In the beginning I had mixed feelings. The lighting is very low, the dialogue begins after 5 mins of a cheesy action sequence, the location is disorienting, and the characters are pure action and reaction.Overall I liked the hero, but with clipped dialogue each word has to deliver. So for example her final choice to the package is, "it's going to be messy or painful" - bit lame.I missed the crucial part of the film so can't rate it.
